Yao should be able to play 30mins EASILY. You just have to manage when he should be resting. IMO, he should play 8mins in the 1st quarter and then rest him and get him back with 7mins to go in the 2nd quarter. That's a total of 30mins per game.

TWO years ago, they play him all the 1st quarter and even into the 2nd quarter...that's not good.

Yeah because if he played 48 mins & every single game, he'd get really really tired. I suck at basketball even more than usual when I'm tired...

Wrong. His foot was "okay" after an entire regular season last time. Played well and played a full season without limit. Then he was hurt in the playoffs. Broke the same bone.

So the truth is he will never be truly "okay" when it comes to the health of his feet/L foot. It will always be an issue.

It'll be an idiotic move for the Rockets if he does.

I am just happy that Woj even mentioned us as a possible contender. ;)

I always thought the way JVG substituted his minutes was genius.

yao doesn't need time to do his thing. When yao scored his points he would take around 12 shots and a couple of freebies. when he wasn't scoring he spent most of his time on the court watching Artest jack shot after shot. If man gets ball fed for 24 minutes, he will be unbeetable. I'm sure he will be playing 30 minutes by late april.

Not at all, they have to find out if he will hold up before offering him a contract.

30 mpg is not all that much....that is 15 minutes a half 7.5 minutes per quarter.

The Rockets need to find out about their investment....the 24 minute limit is complete hogwash, it is made up nonsense.

    They are just guessing...

IMO, it is more important to limit him in practice.....but Morey has said the minutes will be adjusted as they go....I expect it to go up around December/January....a bit.

All I care about is that he can play 24+ minutes in the playoffs. I don't care if the way they get him there is to start the season having him average 12 minutes, and then gradually increase.

We aren't going to do well if we have to constantly adjust our game for Yao.

We build teams around superstars, not the other way around. Our plays with Yao is completely different to if we are without Yao. We can't expect to have good chemistry going in the playoffs if Yao is never full integrated into a game.

He didn't. He mentioned us as a team that won't be a contender.

He's talking about conditioning. If you're conditioned to play only 24 minutes, then minutes 25-40 of a game becomes much more stressful due to lack of stamina.

But as been pointed out, The way to cure that is to simply raise his minutes incrementally by the end of the season. If the Rockets want Yao to play full minutes in the playoffs, you should see it down the stretch. That is, the Rockets will start raising Yao's minutes, from 24 to at least 30-35 range. Given that the playoffs have a lot of down time between games, Yao likely then can bump up an extra 2-3 minutes in the playoffs if needed. Hopefully, Miller can play so well that it won't be necessary. But I think we can potentially cap Yao's playoff minutes at the high 30s.

The 24minutes limit for Yao will cause the Rockets lose some games in the season thus losing the home court advantage in the playoffs which is crucial in the playoffs!

This team with Brad Miller and Hill at the Center position and NO Yao Ming would win 50 games.

With Yao it is 55+ wins.

Yes, but I think we all are forgetting we have an injury prone team If everyone stays healthy, with his limit, we wiill make the playoffs, and then if he isn't limited we might make it to the second round. Yao is important but he isn't kevin durant. He can't singlehandedly raise this team.

What makes everyone assumme the rockets will make the playoffs? They have to get there first before anything else can be done. Its not like they have been shoe-ins recently either in the competitive west.

I don't think so. The kings and grizz will be better. The nw division has 3 playoff caliber teams, and the rcokets are probably 3rd in the southwest. It wont be easy, but they have a chance just like the other teams.
