The 1980s celtics were so deep, mchale came off the bench. Look how well they did. The answer is no.

Upsettheir backups get paid more isnt a valid concern I think with Brooks. Brooks is in a contract year. Making his playing better more important than being upset so he can get that contract. That problem solved. PT? Budinger will clearly get PT this year, Courtney Lee, Yaos backups. There are no chemistry issues here. Ariza left. Martin is happy to be on a playoff team, Courtney Lee is happy to be back on one, Yao is happy to be back, Battier is a team guy if his job is handed to Budinger, Lowry is a team guy who just got paid, and Brooks is playing for money this year. Alot of good things. Depth is not an issue. Never was and never will be. Those teams with Chemistry issues who have these guys but alot of depth? Usually still get deep into the playoffs. They then get rid of the chemistry issue or so called "cancer" then end up becoming worse as a team because they lost talent and depth. Even a chemistry or locker issue doesnt mean no Championships or playoffs. Just ask Kobe and Shaq if they got along. Happiness or unhappiness doesnt lead to losing. Talent or lack thereof does.

These are the same guys who pegged as last in the NBA last year after we lost Yao. None of them came even remotely close to the 42 games we won. So why start listening to them now? Even deeper, Yao back, Courtney Lee adds depth and gets rid of the chemistry issue with Ariza, and added players from the draft and free agency. Low and behold the Rockets will mess up their predictions again. Further damaging their credibility like last year.

Actually the refs had to give us a couple of crummy calls in the fourth quarter of a few games to bring us down to 42 games. We could have won somewhere like 5 more games off of calls going our way.

This is a dumb question, If the Rockets ever get in Foul trouble which most likely we will sinse the NBA refs for some reason are always calling bad fouls on our team, then Can a team be too deep for that? You better hope your teams deep enough when it comes down to Refs making bad calls and getting our guy's in foul trouble. Another good answer to this is how about the injury bug that we can't seem to get off our back every season, What's going to happen if you don't have a deep team and one, two, or three guys go down with an injury, are you going to hope your team is deep enough?

Good rather have RA underestimate the team rather than overestimate it.

Going by this team's history of injuries, minutes won't be a problem. You can pencil Martin for missing 20 games. Battier will probably sit out games here and there and end up missing 12-15. Lowry seems to get dinged up so I can see him being out around 8-10 as well. I won't even mention Yao.

I agree. The 99 blazers that lost to the spurs were loaded with depth. It was good regular season, but when rider, jackson, steve smith, are all playing the same spot, it does create problems. To me, good depth is versitility on both ends. If lee could play the 2 and 3, chase the same, hill the 4 and 5,v and lowry the 1 and 2, then it makes it easier. The way the rockets are setup, they have guys who can only or mostly play 1 position.

It is really a 10-man rotation, and that can be well accommodated. Battier and Yao, particularly, will have no issue with playing time...Battier for reasons of maturity and Yao for reasons at least of security.

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Lee
    Battier/Budinger
    Scola/Hayes
    Yao/Miller/(Hill situationally)

Smith, Patterson, Jeffries, and Taylor are unlikely to see the floor unless injury or blow-out.

Sometimes, I just realize how having a contrary nature can work against you. Today, good sir, is one of those days.

Have too many players? Let's just get rid of some of them so we can get crummier players on the team that won't complaint about the fact they suck and can't get minutes. Let's not keep better talent just in case their lack of professionalism causes them to get their feelings hurt and their panties in a bunch. We can't have that happening!

With this kind of reasoning we soon will be calling Cato and Moochie back so we are not overly talented, we need to make our team worse.

I like this team. Really young and ready for a new start.

If you actually think twice, the only guy who's actually a Rockets veteran is Yao, he's been in Rockets uni since 2002 and thats understandable since he's a cornerstone of this team.

Hayes and Battier are the "old" players, since 2006.
Our team completely changed in last few years. Roster has been revamped and I hope for good.

Given our history of injuries, the Rockets should be the last team to complain about having too many good players.
