kubli9, I think the "point" with the Cavs is that they have no real point guards to run the show. Hence they tried to get Mateen.
other than the choking incident, what else has spree done wrong? as i have said before, i think he would be a great veteran fit for this team.
THANK YOU... To trade CATO, our only center, as of now for another SG who would be dumb. Of course he would help our team, but chemistry issues and demanding the ball, along with his price, doesn't look good to me. Ming will have much trouble lasting 82 games at an NBA pace, we NEED Cato, as much as you all hate to hear it.
the type of player i want to fill in the SF spot with our roster for this year would be Ruben Patterson since hes the dirty work type player but i dont think anyone is a free agent this year..
Patterson, wrong type of personality for the Rox. Although I did like his game, prior to the problem time!
1) Spree is a great talent, a super competitor, and one of those guys you hate to see have the ball in his hands in crunch time for the other team. Reminds me of Hornacek and AGuiree in his ability to get off awkward looking shots at key moments, and damnit if they don't go in... 2) He has also pretty much been a model citizen in NY sonce the whole chocking thing, a leader, and a guy who puts his game where his mouth is, a rarity these days. 3) All the above being true, I would not give up what it would take to get him to play him at the 3...That has been one of the Knicks glaring weaknesses the last coupla years, the fact that their two best players are prototypical 2 guards, and I don't think taking on that weakness is worth the price.
Rice or Cato and Moochie and you get a guy to back up the 1, 2, and3 spots. Play @30 mins. Would I do it? Throw in a #1 pick and mebbe...
I liked Ruben Patterson until he started running his mouth in the playoffs last season proclaiming himself to be "The Kobe Stopper". I also remember him being interviewed, he was calling Shaq a "monster" and the guy just sounded about as stupid as they come. Let's not forget that he was convicted of sexually assaulting his kid's nanny and he now has to register as a sex offender. I think I'll pass on any trade scenarios involving him, unless of course, they want Glen Rice.
You know if we brought Spree here, he isn't going to be happy here.... He's going to be wanting a piece of the action, and it's only going through Ming, Mobley, and Francis....so what's the use of getting him? He might choke out Rudy....

TRADE ACCEPTED
I'll pass on a trade with Sprewell. The reason is that we already have a 3 in Eddie and Boki. And hell, who knows, maybe Glen Rice will do something. Getting Sprewell would be a bad move, IMO, because it would hurt the chemistry of this team.
