Okay, pardon me if this is an old topic (didn't find it in last 10 days). David A. of ESPN just mentioned today in his chat that the Knicks are still shopping Sprewell. Would you want him as a small forward with the Rocks? I like his defense, and I like the image of him running the floor with Cat and Steve. But maybe we've got enough slashing-style scoring. So the Knicks (need a point guard and rebounds), might take: Tito & KennyT or Tito & MoT (these contracts probably work better). Sorry, but what else are we gonna talk about now that the Lewis threads have died?
I don't THINK they would do those trades, but they may be desperate. (plus their idiots.) Personally, I don't want him. He seems more like a SG than a SF to me. And like you said, we may have too many slashers. I'm fine with Rice and Boki. Only other SF I may want is Artest, but he seems to have some problems right now.
i think getting him would not be that bad , he could play some SF or back up cat a SG. that is if we give up little to get him. like tito and kenny.
i'd take spree in a heartbeat. too many slashers so you pass on a perenial allstar, above average defending veteran? you'd pass on the guy that is probably the quickest in the league from basket to basket? i don't get that. if NYK would accept tito and kt or mooch and kt or whatever flotsam we can scrape together in exchange for sprewell, you jump on it like a fat girl on a jelly donut.
I'd love to have Sprewell. And I actually don't think he has a bad attitude. (Who, by the way, DIDN'T want to choke P.J. Carlissimo?) But I can't imagine NY has a whole lot of use for KT or Mo, with McDyess on board. I actually think Cato + Moochie + draft picks (to even out the value) would be more attractive to them. Don't know how the salaries match, but that ought to be close, no? We'd be giving up our only real backup center at a time we need one most, but I think Griff and Mo could take up the slack. Problem is there's only one ball. And any of our starters could be good for 15-20ppg. If they could find a way to share the ball, this lineup looks pretty good to me: Yao, Griffin, Collier Taylor, Thomas, Griffin Sprewell, Rice, Nachbar Mobley, Francis, Sprewell Francis, Maddox, Brown + T-Mo on IR
spree is a very talented player. but i wouldn't put him at small forward on my team. he's a pure shooting guard who's been playing out of position for years.
I'd do that trade in a second. We need a grumpy veteran guy on this team who's about winning and isn't afraid to step on some toes. Plus he can play defense which is definitely needed on this team.
From a talent standpoint, yes. From a fan prospective....I'd rather the rockets continue take a step back in rebuilding. I don't want the rockets to have the same morals as Tech.
Spree quickly became one of my favorite players in the 50 game season when he led the Knicks to the finals. However, he has slowed down since then and is now way overpaid for what he can do. Unless the Knicks want Glen Rice back, I'd pass on any trade to get him.
Forget Spree - Why not just get rid of Tierre for Jurmaine Jones. Cleveland obviously doesnt want him
I'd really like to get Jumaine Jones but giving up Tierre to get him would leave us with 4 small forwards. What about Terence Morris for Jumaine Jones?
Jumaine is a very good young talent. I followed him last year cause he was on my fantasy team. He was listed as able to play PG, SG, SF, or PF position. Very versatile and very athletic. 2001-02 Statistics PPG 8.3 RPG 6.0 APG 1.4
Sprewell is a pretty low percentage shooter, isn't he. I don't like that. He needs a lot of shots to be effective. And I don't see him coming in and accepting a fewer amount of shots. I do like his defense, but again, pair him next to Mobley and Francis and I see issues as far as enough shot attempts to go around. Im much more inclined to see a player like Nachbar and how his game coincides with our guards style of play. Nachbar and his style of play seem more acceptable to our guards and their awesome ability to create, because Nachbar may have no problems with being a feeder on the wings most of the time. Sprewell on the other hand may be just a third guard who needs the ball in his hands and good spacing in order to operate. I feel we already have to many players who are able to attack that way. Lets keep it balanced.
ooo. I like that. Jumaine's probably more what we need (more of a true forward), he'd cost less, and he wouldn't want as many shots as Spree. I keep thinking Tito is going to be better trade bait than Tierre, because you can sell the "potential" angle. Is that wrong-headed?
