From the Free Darko Blog: "Did you hear? FreeDarko Presents: The Undisputed Guide to Pro Basketball History will be officially released on October 26, and the celebration is beginning early. In the tradition, of Pele Week over at the fantastic soccer blog, Run of Play, Brian Phillips (of Run of Play) has allowed us to adapt the concept to create DREAM WEEK. This series will undoubtedly last well over a week and will feature the finest talents in sportswriting including the authors of the Undisputed Guide to Pro Basketball bringing their best Hakeem Olajuwon-related posts on the blog until the book drops." http://freedarko.blogspot.com/2010/10/from-here-on-out-life-will-not-be-same.html Free Darko usually has a thoughtful/unique take on players, and I'm looking forward to this series on Hakeem, especially because he's usually the forgotten star of the 90s.
Hakeem is not a forgotten star. Anyone who watched basketball in the 1990s knew who he was and knows who he is.
I can't believe these stories haven't gotten more attention. There are at least four of them and they are all highly entertaining.
Sort of. He is often overlooked when mentioning the greatest ever. And there are many people who didn't watch basketball in the 90s. Hell, there are players now that weren't even born until the 90s. Hakeem is certainly not forgotten on this board, but he definitely isn't widely recognized for how truly great he was.
