    From what I have seen. . . .
You will not be prying Caron out of Miami with a Crowbar.

KidRock8, If the Heat would trade Grant for Cato and fillers I would go ahead and do that trade.I agree with Gater,Ming needs a backup center and Grant is a PF but he is a physical defender who can support Ming in the frontcourt and Cato is a huge underachiever.
This would lead to a very crowded 4 spot but I would have Grant as a backup 5 like he played for the Heat when Mourning was ill.

How about this 3 way trade?

    Houston sends Cato/KT to Miami.
    Houston sends T-Mo to Washington.

    Miami sends Grant to Washington.

Washington sends Kwame/Laettner/rights to Juan Navarro to Houston.
    Washington sends Whitney to Miami.

What use does Was have with Grant? THye would probably rather see what they have with Kwame, than bring in damaged goods and a bloated contract in Grant.

Hell, what use does anyone have with Grant? The only team I could see him going to is Por. Yes Por. The Por fans loved him, Por can afford his fat contract, and maybe Grant could rekindle the fire he had a few years ago.

Why do you guys always rip Cato so hard? He's not that bad a center; sure he gets overpaid, but think about Seattle with Calvin Booth's huge contract, Golden State with Dampier, Philly with Todd Macculloch, the list goes on.

Most centers get big conracts because of the potential upside they could have, and most just don't pan out. Cato still has some potential, remember that towards the end of last season he was averaging about 7-8 ppg and double digit rebounds. He also isn't horrible on defense and fills the position solidly. As long as he can give us 15-20 effective minutes each game, without picking up stupid fouls, he will be a good center to have. Try naming 20 better true centers than Cato in the league, it's not so easy.

Miami has no shot at Duncan, but Orlando does. How? Grant Hill. If Grant Hill gets back to his old self, and doesn't show signs of injury, they can net Duncan. So Grant Hill, Mike Miller and picks for Duncan. Of course, that would make Orlando direct threats to the Lakers dynasty. Duncan and Mcgrady versus Shaq and Kobe? Can you imagine? You saw how well Dunca did with Derek Anderson. Imagine him with Mcgrady. WOW.

But of course, I doubt Grant Hill is what the Spurs want for Duncan.

Can Orlando clear space for Duncan?

I think the most sensible deal talent wise is

KT or MoT + Rice for Eddie Jones.

The heat wouldn't take Cato nor will the Rockets depart with him. If the heat really wanted a center for a year they could have signed willis. In the East, a center probably isn't that important anyway.

Houston definitely could short up the SG position...I know how many people love mobley, and he certainly is talented, but it's just not there. Jones would be an upgrade, and Mobley could win the 6th man of the year.

I am one of those who believe that Francis is better at SG then PG...but I won't argue that because Francis will never agree to move...and Houston can live with that.

With that trade, Griffin can swing between SF and PF, which makes him difficult to defend. Jones is a great defender.

The only problem is that Yao won't show quality play for at least 2 years, so it might be a waste to trade for anyone around 30.

I bet Riley would love to have Moochie. Regardless, I don't see anybody on the Heat roster, short of Caron Butler, who would help the Rocks.

Cat is cheaper and just as good, if not better, than Jones. Brian Grant is signed for way too long and way too much. Eddie House? Please! All he does is shot and he's very inconsistent. I'll pass. If a deal went down with Miami, it would have to be a 3 way.

Cat is good, but needs to be a 6th man. Too one-dimensional to be a starter at SG. Jones is not as good of a shooter, but he can play defense as well as any SG in the NBA. Jones also is a very good spot up shooter. We could also play all 3 at the same time with a small lineup with Jones sliding over to SF.

Im totally with you. Ive been thinking about Jones or P Hardaway ever since we got Ming. Mobley can go back to the bench and be a spark possibly while we can acquire a big two guard to contain the likes of Mcgrady and Snowbe Bryant.

I say we trade Cato and Nachbar for Butler and Ellis. I think they would go for that.

Mpbley will not be outscored by Bryant or McGrady by more than Penny of Eddie would be. Who cares if McGrady scores 30 if Mobes gets 25. Surely the rest can be made up in the Francis vs. Armstrong/Fisher matchup.
