They tell fat people, "Make sure you eat breakfast! That gets your metabolism going and helps burn calories the rest of the day".

They tell skinny people trying to gain weight, "Make sure you eat breakfast! Three square meals are essential to putting on weight".

These things seem inconsistent. If I skip breakfast, that would seem to slow down my metabolism and help me gain weight.

I have a feeling the powerful breakfast lobby has exerted its influence on the "scienticians" who make these statements.

    BK,

I did a google search using the phrase "Importance of Eating Breakfast" and found this site:

I don't know if this will answer your questions or not, but it might.

I haven't eaten breakfast yet so I didn't understand it.

The line for skinny people is a crock.

Eating 5-6 small HEALTHY meals a day will keep the metabolism up and keep the late night cravings to a minimum. As long as you consume fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. If you burn more than 500 calories than you consume constantly, you will start to lose muscle mass rather than fat.

    Gaining weight:
Since I've fought weight issues my entire life and just over the past few years have I finally beaten my problem... all I can say is if you are trying to gain weight, well I DON'T LIKE YOU VERY MUCH, and I have no advice for you! Just eat those deep fried twinkies that were posted in another thread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner you naturally skinny twerps!

lol...I guess you're SOL then. So, I guess it is safe to say that you won't understand anything today, the next day, and the next until you eat some breakfast!.:p ;)

Well, I wouldn't recommend the breakfast I've eaten this morning (leftover pizza and a doughnut) to anybody trying to gain OR lose weight!

Yeah, it sounds stupid but it is correct. Your metabolic system will not work as efficiently if you dont eat breakfast. But for skinny people that want to gain weight it should be like 3 to 5 meals with snacks in between.

I think there are curves and activation things and stuff... a normal distribution or soemthing is the intuition I have, but I haven't had breakfast... and more importantly coffee, so I'm going to go away now.

oops, 'normal dist' isn't really the thought... more like where your skinny/fat arse is on the curve...
