I think OddsOn is the best example we have of a Tea Bagger on this BBS.

Yesterday I heard Rush Limbaugh argue that preventing poor people from buying soft drinks is stupid because they will just buy sugar and create their own sodas.

    :(

Edit: True story by the way.

Pretty fascinating that you just happened to post it on the same day - and used the exact same language, referencing things like "deadbeats". You're not only stupid, but you're a terrible liar. You saw a dumbass chain email, and being stupid, you believed every word of it and rushed here to post it without having the faintest clue of the accuracy of anything in it. You got called out on your stupidity and made up even more stupid lies to dig yourself in a deeper hole.

If you ever wonder why no one takes you seriously, here's example 1A.

I wonder if he values logic and science.

I think he values Obama/Democrat-bashing. That's about it. Logic, science, facts, honesty, integrity - none of that seems particularly important. As DonnyMost said, our very own tea partier.

It's funny though, you get filth like this thread meant as an attack against the administration when stuff like this would be much better ammunition...

Obama was responsible for this? The administration made those payments?

Eh, I mean it would be good ammunition because you could say "millions" in government waste (although if the check was never cashed, is it really waste? and if it IS cashed and spent, is it really waste? ) - of course on the other side, the SSA delivered with 99.8% accuracy which is pretty high, given that they have hundreds of millions of checks to hand out.

Actually, thinking about it more, I'm sure the SSA probably sends tens or 100's of millions per year to dead people, given their client base....there's naturally going to be some lag between date of death and the time the SSA is notified...i guess we could fix that with a national government death database, maybe we could call it...a "death panel".

Nope. But at least it's a problem with legislation the current administration passed (stimulus), not some fake BS cooked up in a Republican "think" tank. It has some validity and something legitimate to complain about. The stuff in this thread? Illegitimate.

And for the record, I'm not really complaining about what's in the link. $22 million of what, $800 billion? 0.022%? If people b**** and moan about that, they're being a bit ridiculous. The SSA probably has some inaccuracies in it as well, as Sam mentioned. I was just using the article as something that has a tinge of validity rather than some vapid BS pulled from someone's cavernous butt as in the OP.

I can't tell what happened here. Were these payments mailed or cashed? It says half were returned, and the inmates were eligible, so there was nothing wrong there. That leaves about $9MM to dead people that wasn't returned. So did those go into the trash? If so, there's no real cost there except postage. If they were cashed, that exposes a secondary problem with the banking system - why are dead people able to deposit checks?

We should give free cell phones to the poor; in reality, they're dirt cheap and cost the networks virtually nothing to use, and having a phone is pretty essential for acquiring a job.

You are such a moron, the act was meant to insure phone companies laid lines and built the infrastructure to support telecom in rural and poor areas...so that if you lived in those areas and signed up for phone service you wouldn't get less service just because you were poor.

It's not a free cell phone or plan. That truly is done by individual companies as a means to make money - it's a marketing ploy because they give you so few minutes they get to doop the poor into buying minutes and thus they actually make money on these things.

God man, why can't you actually get it right?
