I was at a San Jacinto Ravens game several years ago and saw Sam Cassel there (his former JC college, Francises too). I asked him for an autograph (as did many other kids) and he said to wait till the end of the game. Two minutes before the game is over, he slips into the locker room, waits there an hour, with only about 15 kids to sign autographs for, then leaves out the back door. I didn't much care when Sam Cassel left Houston.

I been Roo hunting with Chuck and then drunk several slaps of Fosters in a cave with him, in the outback of Oz.

I met Penny Hardaway in an elevator in the Doubletree Hotel. He was here having knee surgery in Houston in Jan 1998. Had a nice chat - he was shy and kind of in awe of meeting me I think. [IMG]

I played basketball with Calvin Murphy, ALlen Leavell, and Rodney McCray.

All at the post oak YMCA.

Allen Levell was the fastest player I ever played against...and he was about 40 at the time...the man was LIGHTNING QUICK.

I saw Kelvin Cato at Mama's Cafe on Westheimer at 4 a.m. a week ago. He was pimping 2 girls. I didn't talk to him because I didn't want to interrupt his pimping.

I met Larry Smith at a Sam Houston/Alcorn State football game after we had won the first title. He signed my cap and started to let us hold his ring before he second guessed it (DAMN!!!!). He is a BIG guy, but he was very friendly. I saw Mihm and Gabe around campus a lot last year, I wish that we would invite Gabe to join our Rocky Mountain Revue team, he is going to be a decent bench player one day if he keeps working (He was busting his hump on the court one day while I was playing in Austin working on his J). Hook'em Horns!!!!

Talked trash in person to Sqatch umm Shaq at work one night when he was here for the finals in houston before locking myself in a car.

Valet parked Robert Horry's ferrari and later bought Horry and Casell both a cup of coffee at starbucks during the lockout. Times we rough when they werent getting they guranteed salaries.

Bought Barkley a lap dance at treasures. Met Shandon a week before he was a Rocket at Roxy.

I saw Rudy at the Blockbuster Music on Shepherd and 59 (before it became Wherehouse). He was looking at Reggae cassettes. You'd think with his salary he'd go for CD's [IMG] And I saw Tina Thompson at IKEA.

Met Sam Cassel at Burger King. I was in line getting breakfast before playing in a tennis tournament near gessner about 6 years ago. I turn around and see him walking through the door. I make a joke to my doubles partner about it being sam cassel though i really didnt think it was him.i didnt have my glasses on yet. As he got closer, i did a double take and was in shock. He just said hi.

i saw Scottie Brooks at my friend's highschool graduation in 94 (during the finals). made an ass of myself walking up to him and saying, "it's an honor to meet you, i'm a fan" as he sort of smiled to himself, shook my hand, and walked off.

saw Matt Bullard at the Pink Floyd concert in like march 94. i had better seats than he did; he was in the 16th row, i was in the 10th row. he's tall and goofy looking.

a friend of mine claims that he saw Mario Elie in the parking lot of the hotel where we stayed after our highschool graduation in 95, the same night they beat the spurs to advance to the finals. i don't believe him.

I met Charles Jones at IHOP after one of their championships, but everyone there called him "Chucky".

I have seen Moses Malone, Hakeem, and Horry at Randalls. Moses denied who he was, but I peeked over at the deposit slip he was filling out and it said Moses Malone. Hakeem was buying flowers or something.

I saw Stephon Marbury at the gym. I didn't recognize him at first but his tattoos gave him away. Plus the people working there were kissing his ass.

    Let's see...

I saw Shawn Kemp with a girl at the IHOP in Meyerland at about 3 am after a playoff game in '97 (i think). I was the first to recognize him, I was sitting right across from him and I was trippin', but I let him eat...then people started crowding around him. I think he appreciated my restraint.

I saw Mario Elie at a charity event at the polo ground off of 610/Memorial. It was the summer between the championships, and I said something to the effect of 'they're not giving us any respect Mario' and he said "yeah, we'll show 'em." (or something like that), so I feel personally responsible for the second championship [IMG]

off the subject a little...did anyone sit at the end of the inzone in the 'dome ($20 tickets!!!) during the last seasons the Oilers were here? I got to meet and see up close and personal just about every player that came through...Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, etc. We even show up in the highlight films whenever they show anyone scoring on that side. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity...

Since we're all jumping on the bandwagon...

After the Rockets Final Game last year when a few of us from the BBS met at (forgotten the name) Irish Bar on Shepperd, Rudy T walked in all flustered. A few of the people with us chased after him and spoke to him, including Heypartner, Pocketspimp and 3pointer. I stayed put.

Also saw Barkley with Warren Moon at SRO on Gessner after 1999 NCAA championship game. As he walked past he lifted up and hugged one of the girls we were with and said "I had a f#$ken good time tonight!"

Ok, Ok. I didn't want to break out the big guns, but it appears that my Leavell at the Astrodome story might be a little weak. so here it goes. I have met most of the current and former Rockets at different fundraisers. Now here's the kicker. I OWN A '94 CHAMPIONSHIP RING. I'm sorry, I didn't want to do that, but you have to admit that that's pretty cool. [IMG]

This one time, at band camp, I saw Jake Voskuhl, the 33rd pick of the Chicago Bulls.

(Actually, we just both lived in Katy, I never went to band camp)

(That's not to say that if you did go to band camp you were a dork or anything, my sisters went to band camp)

(That's not to say that my sisters aren't a little dorky or anything. I mean one of them married an Aggie. The other one lives in California)

(That's not to say that if you live in California you're dorky)

(Sorry, I'm feeling really stupid today)

Just because you're white and play basketball doesn't mean you're a Matt Bullard clone, despite idiotic accusations to the contrary.

Ok, ok, here we go. My band played at the team party directly after the 95 championship. It was at the Briar club and we were going to have to set up again after game 5 if we did not sweep. The whole team was there and almost everyone was smashed.
