DaDakota is correct, though. Regardless of Hakeem, the Rockets were not favorites going into either season.

Excellent advice, especially given how Morey has consistently screwed up all the previous moves like acquiring kmart+two 1st rounders, scola for vspan, lowry for skip, among other terrible mistakes that have left this team completely void of any assets. If only Les would see the light and replace Morey and hire someone with the analytical skills and strategic thinking that you clearly have.

bobrek: how do you have a "vamos los astros" tag as your user status?

We weren't favorites in that 2nd season until after we took a risk and aquired Drexler.

We didn't stand pat like alot of people on this board are preaching we do.

But in our case, we need to aquire that Batman to go along with the Robins, not the other way around.

I'm praying to God that Morey nets us Melo or CP3 by the deadline. Nash is a sleeper to switch teams as well so I'm gonna keep an eye out on his situation and the Suns success or lack there of.

Hey Debbie, giving a different opinion is the same as being offended in your eyes? Based on your logic, there are also many people on this board who get offended far too easily when someone declares Yao Ming is superior to Dwight Howard. No offense, you seem to be the one who get easily offended.

Actually brohan we weren't a favorite at any time. The Rockets finished 6th seed that year. 6th freaking seed. We're still the only team who has ever won it all from there. So your argument is kind of invalid...

    Umm...?

When did I ever say Morey screwed up in the past?

Don't put words in my mouth.

I loved the aquisition of Artest, which I think was his best move to date, the Scola robbery, and the steals of Mandry and Brooks.

The Martin aquisition is still an incomplete in my books.

I agree, and I bet Morey does too. Thankfully, the trade deadline is months away, so there's plenty of time to bring in some help.

    Patience.

Going off the record but just to guesstimate, who do you think we will land?

    Just curious.

Nothing serious, just a simple answer will do.

Even with Yao fully healthy, this team still wouldn't win the chip. The Lakers are just too good.

I also feel like Brooks will be traded by the ASG.

so lets get rid of yao and tank the season so we can start the rebuild process. Yes last nite's game have me convinced.

I asked you before, but you never provided any solution, answers, thought, nada. So I'll ask again, what should the rockets do now then?
They're not title contenders and won't be for a very long time.

The Rockets will go as far as Yao takes them.

Continue to keep their options up, do anything that has a positive outcome on the club, whether that means building for the future or this season.

actually the rockets were not the 5th seed, they were 6th seed in the 95 playoffs, but this goes more in your favor. :)

ummm....actually EVERY team pretty much is in that situation..

And i'm not sure why some fans believe something is wrong with improvement. We dont have to win a ring this year. That's why people don't have to give reality checks, or whatever this is. If you feel they have to, then maybe you're the one that needs a reality check. This team can compete with the top teams in the conference and therefore has a good shot at a second round win and possibly a long conf finals series. Fans are going to b**** about that not being enough, but they'll be the same ones cheering, if it happens, and talking about how much a big step it was in the right direction. It all changes once games are actually played.

The only  comment I've ever seen was one of the posters on here saying Jordan Hill was the next Chris Bosh that was funny.

Patrick Patterson is a guy before the draft that I think has bust written all over him, and it's funny because I thought James Anderson was another player I though before Spurs drafted him.

They weren't favorites, but they were definitely contenders. The 1992-93 team was a 55 win team.

    This year's team? Hmm...dunno.
