Did you guys know that those I like it statuses are for breast cancer awareness? Did not know that until today. Was wondering why so many people were posting some weird stuff... Pretty sure I saw "I like it in my butt" yesterday...
Don't know why one would want to be cryptic about a breast cancer awareness message. Kind of defeats the purpose, I think. Seems more like a call for attention under the guise of "doing something good". My little sister posted, "I like it on my bed and in my closet." I want to choke her.
save the tatas. Did anyone else race on Saturday? Well.......I'm old, fat, and out of shape, so I actually walked while pushing a stroller, but man.........big turnout.
for the cause of breast cancer? I'm so confused... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/05/i-like-it-on-facebook-sta_n_751756.html
I don't see how saying where they leave their purses has anything to do with breast cancer. Maybe where they like to perform self breast exams, that would make more sense. http://www.dotsperiod.com/1200/i-like-it-facebook-status-is-about-breast-cancer-awareness/ What? I'm pretty sure that's the opposite of awareness.
This is so ****ing ridiculous. What a messed up society we live in. Those idiots organizing this $H!T are making a joke out of a very serious matter that holds the life of many people in the balance. how the F do you "raise awareness" by posting some cryptic crap on facebook? God this is ridiculous.
Really don't understand the point of this. Some people just do this for "fun" and nothing to do with breast cancer awareness.
It makes a kind of sense to me. If you read a facebook status, that says something like "It's breast cancer awareness month, most of us know someone who had breast cancer....please whatever, whatever mumble, mumble" we might reflexively hit like but we are gonna move on and not give it much thought. But if one of our female friends posts a vaguely titillating status message...most of us are gonna wonder what is up....eventually if enough of em do it you look it up and have put more time and thought into it than your eyes glazing over a typical PSA type facebook status. Then enough people do that and they write news stories about it which is a lot of free publicity for the cause. It's just using the principle sex sells for a good cause. Edit: Am not trying to be flip here, my aunt is a breast cancer survivor and my grandmother died of cancer that originated in her breasts. I just think this kind of advertising can work. Or at least it gets free publicity which is important for an organization that would seem to hate to spend dollars on advertising that could be used for research.
Thank God someone made a thread about this...I was going crazy trying to figure out what those status updates were referring to. I love ClutchFans.net
I don't think awareness is an issue anymore. How much pink did you see on the football field this past Sunday? Breast Cancer is an issue that is almost exclusively female, and I doubt Nancy Brinker ever imagined how successful she could make this cause become. I've no doubt that the women in this organization are eternally grateful that so many men have stepped up to help with their cause, but I also imagine that women suffering from breast cancer are much more in tune with other female sufferers and other women in general. This "I like it" thing allows them to take back a little bit of the overall cause and make it more gender specific.........it gives them a slice of the cause to call their own. Just my $.02
imagine the outcry from those feminist dykes if men made a movement for testicular cancer and encouraged men ONLY to update their status with where they like to get blowjobs. "I like to get one in the kitchen, while she cooks for me". This is bull$h!t
