I think the real reason Aaron Brooks is pissed because he knows he will be dealt for Anthony therefore he wants ALL or Nothing by Novembers extension deadline. MOREY bring Melo in.
Or the fact he knows he will be making less money due to new cba. What do you mean All or Nothing? That makes no sense.
What he means is either we trade Brooks for Melo, or we let Brooks walk for nothing, just because the only way to get a trade done is an all or nothing approach. To me clutch is overrated. If a guy was truly clutch his team will never lose because he will make all the game-winning shots 100% of the time. As long as your guys aren't chokers who cave under pressure, that's good enough. Players like Kobe makes a lot game-winning shots but what makes them great is their consistently high production, not because they're clutch. In terms of clutchness LBJ actually kicks his ass, but nobody talks about that.

So we had a 42-40 record because we didn't have a clutch performer? You honestly think that was a bigger issue then the lack of talented size down low? Did we lose a ton of close games last year? To an extent, I agree with you and so does Morey. Problem is that Denver is asking too much and Anthony isn't the best out there by a long shot. I seriously doubt Anthony will ever come here, and some other opportunity will come up first.
Stop basing your argument around DD. You lose immediately. There's a huge majority of us that disagree with his entire philosophy of basketball, but at least he backs it up with some sort of factual information. Yes, Carmelo is a closer, sometimes. Is he THE answer? I don't think so.
Pray tell, because to me, Aaron Brooks is our closer....or initiator of the closing. That is interesting, what is my philosophy that you disagree with so fervently? Is it that I believe in unselfish team oriented play that you disagree with? I love superstar players especially when they play the team game, remember Hakeem when he finally got it, and started trusting his teamates. If we can get a Superstar that plays as a team player I am all for it.... Melo is not one. DD
First of all...no they don't. They don't have as good a chance AS ANYONE to make the WCF. Second of all...SOME health concerns? Really? Some?? He's limited to 24 minutes a game. Tonight we're hoping to get him to 12. He's 7'6"...his foot is held together by pins...he's been injured so often, we're talking about how he fits in now...not how others fit in with him. He's played 237 of the Rockets last 405 games. I think SOME might be an understatement. If AB is your closer, you're not going real far. And I say that while telling you he's my favorite player on the team...and that I was a fan of his in Oregon. I love me some AB. But let's not lose perspective. Underappreciated? Try overrated. Everyone in Rocket Red is overrated on this board. Seriously. Every single player. Right down to, "Yao has SOME injury concerns." In no way was Ariza the focal point of the offense last season. Brooks threw up 1,331 shots last season to Ariza's 999. Brooks took more than 3 shots more per game than Ariza did. I'm not sure we had a clear focused offensive player last year....that's really the problem, in my mind. There is STILL no go-to guy. But with what we have, Brooks is that guy..and he was last year. And I don't think that's even remotely good enough for a team that wants to contend. I hope you're right...and I think you're right. It's just going to take moving past what we have RIGHT NOW, as your point here implies. At some point we're going to need some kind of real alpha dog, though. But this thread isn't about 2011/12...or 2012/13...it's about this season. I can't speak for the OP...but I'm not whining. Just calling it like I see it. I wish I saw it differently. I think we're built a bit on Fool's Gold, right now, if the goal is championship contention. If it's just being a fun team to watch -- I have no doubt we will be that.
This is true, but when we won our championships, we had many people who could close out games kenny vernon drexler horry cassell mario elie dream I think you maybe think of who is the unstoppable force (aka Dream) on the team carmelo would be the man cause of his scoring abilities
True dat. Having someone that other teams fear suddenly makes all the other guys better closers. btw hasn't Morey said something to the effect of 'we should be far enough ahead at the end of games that we don't have to worry so much about being clutch so often'? Just paraphrasing the idea.
I did back up my argument. You don't agree with it. My comment regarding DD is that he thinks Duke basketball wins in the NBA. It doesn't.
