He's not one of the best producers? Have you heard of any of the following songs? Izzo-Jay-z, Poppa was a Playa-Nas, Guess Who's Back-Scarface, Get By-Talib Kweli, Stand Up-Ludacris, ENCORE -Jay-z, Slow Jamz - Twista, Overnight Celebrity-Twista, Almost the entire "College Dropout" album which includes Spaceship and Jesus Walks, songs from "Late Registration" such as Golddigger, Heard em Say, Drive Slow, Addiction, Diamonds from Sierra Lione, The Cool- Lupe Fiasco, Wouldn't get far-the game, SWAGGA LIKE US, one of the greatest produced albums of all time "GRADUATION", almost all of the BLUEPRINT 3, Sky might fall and Make her say by Kid Cudi, Show me a good time -Drake, Live Fast Die Young, Rick Ross. Basically, I can go on forever and if you dont think he's a great producer, then something is wrong. Yeah, life is pretty easy when you do this.. Yeah, life is pretty easy when you do this.. People DO in fact misinterpret him. Tell me this, what did you think was going on in the Power music video? Everyone thought it was evil and satanic... http://www.farhankhan.com/2010/08/kanye-wests-power-analysis/#more-263
Kanye's verse at 0:45 is ridiculous. I'm definitely getting this album.
So Appalled is beyond sick... that beat is "****in ridiculous" . Kanye has definitely turned up the rapping skills up a lot this time around. Still not one of the best.. not even close. His producing skills are top notch though. At least when it comes to mainstream stuff.
To be fair, when you said one of the "greatest producers of our time" I thought you were referring to the music industry as a whole. Kanye is one of the best hip-hop/rap producers. There is no doubt about that. However, he's still not in the convo for greatest of our time. I just listed a few off the top of my head who are better. No disrespect to Kanye, those guys have just been rolling out better stuff more consistently for a longer period of time. If Kanye keeps everything up for a few more years, I think he deserves a place in the convo.

I honestly have no idea what's going on in that clip. The sound quality is really poor. All I heard was some random incoherent mumbling.

I'm not challenging the proposition that Kanye is misunderstood. I'm just saying that holds little significance to how mind blowing his music is. The College Dropout had some amazingly influential tracks on there. Honestly, i'm nitpicking. I just didn't see how i'd be blown away by what he really means. This isn't exactly a Radiohead/Boards of Canada album that really makes you think or "shocks" you per se
