Why can't they have MEXICAN bands?

Or even some South American or Spanish ones would be good.

I want to see some Molotov, Maldita Vecindad, El Inspector, La Lupita, Soda Estereo, Héroes del Silencio, etc., etc.

Is ACL worth the price? I've never been to one, and I'll finally be going to school in Austin meaning I'll get the opportunity to. :D

I haven't actually been to it before, but just by the line-up I'd say yes. Pretty solid line-up. Muse puts on an amazing show (Seen them twice now, can't wait to see them again), the Strokes are probably pretty awesome live, Flaming Lips are quite amazing live (seen them too, pretty great), LCD Soundsystem looks like a lot of fun live, vampire weekend seems energetic and a ton of fun, Deadmau5 stage set-up looks amaaaazing, and then theres a ton of just good bands in general like Spoon, Broken Bells, Yeasayer, the xx, Silversun Pickups, Gaslight Anthem, Two Door Cinema Club, Local Natives, among many others.

Isn't the best line-up ever, but still pretty damn good and worth the price of admission to me at least.

I'm definitely going to Deadmau5 (again). I was saying there are no conflicts between the two acts I want to see the most.

they do - for example, in 2003 (or 4?) i saw a band called cafe tacuba, from mexico city - happened to walk by where they were playing and was instantly hooked - since then, they became one of my favorite bands of the last 10 years or so. my top 20 list of greatest albums of the decade would include two of theirs...and the only reason i found out about them in the first place was b/c of acl.

fans of flaming lips/radiohead/happy mondays/beck should check out...

i saw a columbian band called aterciopelados a couple years ago who were one of the best acts i saw that year. became a fan of theirs after seeing them at acl. i also remember seeing los amigos invisibles, who i think are from venezuela. and although they are from austin, groupo fantasma has played a few times. and does los lobos count, b/c they have played too.

id definitely be down w/ a more international flare to the festival (and less geezer/hippie), but i think they do alright.

    MUSE saturday FTW!

dont sleep on cage the elephant, if you have not seen them live, they are awesome put on a sick show. Thier lead singer is so raw and full of energy!

hopefully their are some good after shows sunday cuz i really dont have much interest in the eagles, joe walsh is a great guitar player, but the eagles dont do much for me...

It's ACL 2010 week. Should be absolutely perfect weather. Forecast so far is...

Friday - High of 86, low of 57, sunny
Saturday - High of 85, low of 59, sunny
Sunday - High of 85, low of 62, sunny

Still, for me, Friday is the best day. I'm looking forward to...

    Mofro
    Soft Pack
    Mountian Goats
    Black Keys
    Band of Heathens
    Spoon
    Robert Randolph

Sat, I only have Black Lips and Broken Bells on my list. Friday and Saturday include the kids for me. Sunday, the grandparents help out. But I only have Flaming Lips and Trombone Shorty on my list for that day. This will be a festival of discovery for me since there's less that I know about than in the past.

Either way, should be another great year.

Deadmau5 for just an hour is pretty weak.

Are you familiar with how music festivals work? Most bands only have an hour set, even if they are the greatest band in the world. If Joy Division were playing ACL, I'm sure Ian Curtis would be booted off the stage the minute the clock struck 9pm.

    My ACL weekend
10/7- Vampire Weekend with Beach House and the Very Best
10/8- LCD Soundsystem with Sleigh Bells

My ACL plans fell through, but its not so bad, it at least brought a bunch of awesome concerts to Houston

And I'll be seeing Muse and Deadmau5 later this month at Voodoo fest (Deadmau5 gets an hour and a half set there, yay) so yeah

I'm trying to figure out what's good about it, too. Maybe live I'll find it. So far, not a band on my schedule.
