Shout out to Fort Worth and Galveston. Make Texas proud. http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2010/10/04/25-most-dangerous-neighborhoods-2010/
I am soooo gangsta. I've lived in both Texas zips in the past three years. In fact, I owned a house on Church in Galveston.
It's not, only in certain neighborhoods like K-Town or Englewood. This list would be more accurate if it narrowed down where in the city crime was most prevalent.
I live exactly 1.5 miles north of #1 (directly north on Damen). #1 is the area directly outside the United Center.
#1 is Damen/Western (east/west); Kinzie/Washington (north/south). I would have thought Englewood in Chicago is a lot worse.
I'm used to the hood (grew up in South Side) but a cousin I went to visit lived in Oakcliff up in Dallas. That place is no joke. Heard close gun fire twice in one night.
A variety of factors are at play here. Lack of education, drugs, very few businesses in the area, poverty Lack of education increases the chances of poverty which increases the chances of violence. "Blacks" have been one of, if the the poorest, groups in the nation since we were first brought here. Most "blacks" do not live in poverty nowadays, but the media makes sure to show us the few that do. Satisfied?
