thats the problem, you shouldnt need whistles to bail you out, man up and hit your shots instead of looking for help

Alright, someone give me a serious response on this, because people seemingly never give their reasoning for their inane basketball commentary:

LeBron averages around 30 ppg with a 50% field goal percentage, averaging 10 out of 20 from the field. He also averages 10 free throws per game, converting 77% of them. He drives to the hoop more than any scorer in the NBA, therefore it makes sense that he goes to the line a lot.

However, let's say that 4 of those free throw attempts per game are on "BS superstar calls." For every 5 foul calls on his shots, two are blatantly wrong calls that the NBA gives to LeBron to feed his hype machine.

If LeBron were treated "fairly," 4 of those free throws would equal 2 more missed shots per game for LeBron making his average game 10-22, good for 27 points per game at a 46% clip. He would still one of the highest scoring and most efficient players in the league.

How do you assert that LeBron needs free throw bailouts to be a superstar?

When you don't get touchy fouls, defenders can be more physical and make it harder to drive.

Cut the BS. LeBron gets fouled hard and still manages to finish more than any other player in the league. He gets no more superstar calls than any other superstar has historically gotten. MJ benefited from phantom calls all the time --it's just one of the advantages of being great at finishing and having the reputation of a superstar.

The only player in the NBA that gets fouled harder on a regular basis than LeBron is Dwight Howard.

Lebron double pumped the on the go-to which is not fluid at all. He swings the ball up and down. Wade barely has any vertical movement of the ball.

Right off my memory, he used 5 steps layup to close off Wizards in playoff, twice. He got a phantom foul to force an OT in 09 playoff against Magic, he wouldn't have the chance to get his winning shots if he didn't get many phantom fouls down the stretch in the 4th quarter.

And you think what handcheck is for? Kobe didn't get one handcheck foul in the entire finals series. Imagine it happens on LeBron, Geez.

Anecdotal evidence means nothing and players get away with all sorts of violations at the end of games all the time.

So you want statistical evidence? There's an article about either LeBron is best defensive player of all time by a big margin, or he's getting preferral treatment by a big margin as he averaged way less fouls than his peers and all time greats.

Kobe won his first championship because the refs handed his team the fourth quarter of a game 7 at home in the western Finals. Kobe won his third championship because the refs handed his team a game in the fourth quarter in game 6 of the western conference finals when his team was facing elimination. Kobe won his fourth and fifth championships in large part because his team was given one of the top power forwards in the league practically for free weeks before the trade deadline by a GM who used to work under former Laker GM Jerry West (who happened to be the guy who brought Kobe to LA).

If there's any conspiracy to create a superstar player out of a guy who is undeserving, it's Kobe who is benefiting from that conspiracy.

This thread is a great example of the confirmation bias fallacy, which is is a tendency for people to favor information that confirms their preconceptions or hypotheses regardless of whether the information is true or conclusive.

One lie after another, West retired before the trade occurred. And think about it, it's basically trading Shaqand Marc Gasol for Pau Gasol and Odom, free my ass. Marc Gasol alone is one of the best bigmen in the league.

Talk about conspiracy, LeBron got Shaq and Jamison for free, too bad he's incapable.

Also, did you check game 5 in 2002? Webber got the ball out of bound, without it, it wouldn't have Bibby's winning shot.

Then I guess Yao is the special one. He gets the reverse-preferential treatment.

Not when they made the trade.. The Grizz are lucky he panned out.. They had no idea at the time he would pan out to be a good PF. He was an unproven European player.
