 And unless we win by 45 runs, we'll finish with the 5th worst run differential in the division by a wide margin. Of course, we'll also finish well ahead of the Pirates and their ML worst -276 (plus or minus whatever they do tomorrow). As of this moment, we now have the 2nd worst run differential in the NL. We slid below the D'backs with this 5-run loss (-122 to -120).
this was like a season of 2 seasons. i'm not sure what season-long stats actually tell us about next year. kinda reminds me of 2000...we were awful in the 1st half, but if you bothered to pay attention in the 2nd half you saw they were putting something together. the next season, they won the division.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Go Cubs. We could use a better pick and both teams are tied going into the final game. Let the Scrubs win.
I want to believe the same...but that team had Bags, Biggio coming back, Moises Alou, Berkman, Wagner, etc. 2000 was an annexation based on the roster and a top farm sys. This is much different. We're all hoping that these kids maintain or improve on what they did in the 2nd half of this season.
Nice to see the roof open again... this must have been a season low as far as "open roof" games for the season in the existence of MMP.
It's also the second year in a row that Figueroa has left the game without giving up a single run on the last day of the season. Last season he did it against the Astros for the Mets. With his second half performance, I'm guessing the Astros will find a way to bring him back. He's a decent guy to have around to use in the Brian Moehler mold of a flex fifth starter/reliever.
76 wins is pretty phenomenal... no, entirely phenomenal... given that we were historically bad in a lot of areas for the first month or so of the season. Looking forward to the future of the Astros and the renewed commitment to the farm system that we've seen in recent years.
Anybody have a caption for this? How 'bout? "Grabbing Amazon woman's boobs" or "Stowing luggage en route to new team after trade"
