12 and 6, playing 22-24 mpg (where I see his minutes to be at the end of the season) is pretty good. Just a shade under his usual per-minute numbers. I think your projection is about right. Not asking Yao to regularly pound it down low is also strategic, because it will keep the wear off his legs.
Pretty much, but he can do a few more things. He will still get chances in the post, but i think or I've seen a non hesitant yao be a deadeye shooter from 16ft and in. Its easy money for the team and if the defense wants to hug it up from there, thats the poison they will have to take.
I think he will average at least 5 ppg in the low post and 7 ppg in the high post. If I were Yao and I was worried about banging down low, I'd consider working on my three point shot. With his work ethic, I think he could be a consistent three point threat.
Yao just needs to work on a turn-around, fade away jump shot between 15 feet to 20 feet. If he can have a 50% FG shot from that range, it's going to be bloody brutal to defend him. He has the hands and the physical tools to do it. He just needs to be consistent now.
Man, our team is so stacked. I wouldn't be surprised, during the earlier games of the regular season, if Adelman decides to play the starters for 10 minutes, swapping out player for player here and there. Man, this is going to be fun to watch.
I'm telling everyone (and have said a few times before) that the guy will be a better player for the Rockets than Trevor Ariza was. The deal to bring him in and ship Trevor out was as much about basketball as it was about money.
