Supplement industry is not regulated and unless independent studies are conducted like the one in consumer reports, you have no idea what the contents of the protein you're buying contains. As far as cholesterol goes with eggs, don't eat the yolk. Don't buy hormone injected chicken. And eat fish once a week and not everyday and you don't have to worry about mercury poisoning.
the protein mixes contain a lot of crap too...and cholesterol in eggs is misleading, not that bad unless you're eating the whole dozen.
Instead of wasting money on Muscle milk, get a tub ON Whey and Casein: mix 70:30 ratio for workouts. 60:40 at other times. Its cheaper, purer and works better. If you are too lazy to mix and are willing to spend, Wellements Pro-Blend is the best I have come across.
you can get plenty of free protein shakes on craigslist. Just go over there and click on the casual section..
This. I use ON. Its cheap, low in cholesterol and gets the job done. Always rated one of the best out there.
Dyamatize. Tastes great, and they have a low carb variety. 25 g protein/4 g carbs. Also Pro-Complex is good. 60 g protein + BCAAs and good healthy carb mixture. Good for morning after workout or night after workout. Slowly metabolizes throughout the day and uses a variety of protein types to deliver good protein quality and tasty too.
I swear by this stuff. In fact, I think of it more like a treat than something I'm forced to consume. http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Protein-...1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1285947357&sr=8-1-fkmr0 35g protein 1g fat 1g sugar 2g carbs
I use this and like it. It tastes really good and has a good protein to calorie ratio. http://www.amazon.com/Lean-Carb-Watchers-Shake-Chocolate-Cream/dp/B003DIBBBI/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_1
This is exactly what I do... I always have several tubs of ON whey and ON casein in my house and at work and mix them in ratios depending on if it was a cardio day or a lifting day.
