Started working out again recently and in need of a protein shake. I never tried it, but I heard from several people to try out Isopure protein. Has anyone had experience with this? My protein brand of choice for a while has been ON 100% Whey. That has been good and taste isn't bad but thinking of trying something new. If you've tried it, what are the best flavors for Isopure? Suggestions welcome. Thanks.
I drank EAS for a while and decided to give Muscle Milk a shot. MM isn't bad but EAS had overall better taste to go along with more protein (MM came in smaller portions). I've only tried chocolate for both.
Is there something specific you're looking for besides the protein? If not, then just pick the cheapest one possible, the protein is all the same except for soy vs whey.....you can also opt for actual food and forget the shake, that's just as effective.
It depends on how much you want to spend. For what it's worth, I use Myofusion by Gaspari. I think it's well rounded enough for the average gym-goer.
Muscle milk for me. I can't stand mixing protein drinks. muscle milk is the only protein I've found that is pre made and doesn't destroy my digestive tract.
I try, but I don't think I get enough protein from my normal diet. Especially because I have an above average fast metabolism. I want a protein that'll help me build mass but at the same time keep me lean. So I guess I'm looking for a good all around protein.
how many grams are you getting a day? You don't really need more than about .8 grams per pound, maybe 1 gram at most...are you having a problem sitting down to eat enough or is it just the make up of your meal that isn't enough protein? If it's just the meal itself, then go for more fish, meats, egg, etc...the protein in shakes isn't any better quality, might just be worse. your metabolism shouldnt really affect the protein's ability to build muscle......maybe it's the overall calories you're lacking? To build muscle you need enough protein for your weight, but more calories overall.
I think it's both. During the week I'm working, so by the time I go to the gym and get home it's already 8 or sometimes 9, and I don't want to eat a buffet before I go to sleep. Not to derail my own thread, but I have been looking lately for some nice chicken breast recipes. By the way, has anyone heard anything about Isopure in particular? If so, how are their flavors??
I've been drinking Syntha-6. I think it's the best tasting shake I've evr had. Ive also been getting it pretty cheap on Amazon. $23 for about 3 lbs.
tried most of them out there, and by far the best one overall has been Syntha-6. - great tasting - very high protein-to-sugar ratio (per scoop, 22g protein to 2g sugar, which is impressive considering how great it tastes) - not as expensive as others (you can get a 2.91 lb. container for ~$31 at the gym)
i've had the chocolate syntha-6, it was pretty good. what other flavors have you guys tried? i typically love cookies-n-cream (the ON 100% whey cnc is great, as is muscle milk). as for recipes check this site out. relatively easy meals, and they're typically quick to make. some are better than others, as far as protein and fat goes, but there are more than enough choices there that you won't have to repeat a meal for a couple of weeks. http://www.ivillage.com/40-quick-table-dinner-ideas/3-a-57675
I like Gaspari Myofusion. It's the tastiest protein shake I've ever had. Mix with some milk, throw a couple of ice cubes, and add one or two scoops of Myofusion and you'd think you just went to a fast food joint for a milk shake. You can get a 5 lb. tub for $40 bucks off bodybuilding. Probably cheaper elsewhere if you do some searching online. One scoop is 25g of protein. I'd avoid EAS Myoplex and Musclemilk. Both have high contents of metals, arsonic and other poisonous chemicals. Now neither is going to kill you if you just have one scoop a day of either protein. But if you're someone that has 3 shakes a day (lol wut?) over time it will be harmful for you. Here's a consumer report in July 2010 about the most toxic protein shakes on the market. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...-drinks/whats-in-your-protein-drink/index.htm
This I agree with. Protein is protein. It's cheaper just to consume eggs, eat chicken and fish, and make your own meals than spending so much on protein shakes. That said, I like the convenience of protein shakes when I don't feel like cooking and I think Myofusion tastes great if I got a bad chocolate craving to fill.
if it's both, then i dont think you should worry about the kind of protein. Increase calories and go for a basic protein mix, then if that still doesnt work, maybe an advanced protein shake formula will be worth a try. Personally, i use it as a true meal replacement, when i either dont want to cook or dont have time. I buy a 2 lb container at walmart, about 14 bucks, tastes good too. Pack it with fruits (i buy the frozen bags), milk, to increase overall calories. Adding PB also works. Doesnt take too long to make. http://www.bodyfortress.com/SUPER-ADVANCED-WHEY-PROTEIN-CHOCOLATE
