Well, no further damage but he had to throw 6 extra pitches. Bullpen was starting to warm up but I'm thinking Myers will be back out there even though he's at 100 pitches. I think CJ was just lazy on that play. He has to be ready to react more quickly. Kepp did wait a little too long to make the throw though.
Brandon Phillips is such a douchebag. Always hated him, highly over-rated arrogant SOB. How did he even end up in the All-Star game.....
Ouch, he gives up a hit to Arroyo to lead off the 6th then Phillips with a no-doubter. I thought Mills would pull him but he didn't. Purely for the streak at this point.
Not arguing with the 1st part but as for the second, us Astros fans should know as well as anybody how the AS thing works. Phillips also had a pretty solid 1st half of the season for a 2nd baseman.
Lee made 2 solid catches against the dugout railing but completely mistracked that last one and it was playable. Next pitch, ball over the fence. 8-1. 1 out to go but it feels cheap at this point.
myers has looked terrible the last 2 starts, hope he comes out sharp next year. we don't need half year studs.
How fitting is that? Myers' streak ends on Lee's mistake. It's not an error but that was a very playable ball. Not sure why Mills is pulling him at this point if he already let him go this far.
I'm sure it is but my thing is that he already let him go past the point that any other pitcher would have been pulled. It was clearly already just about the streak. I guess it's better late than never and I guess the max was at about 110 or 115 but with one out to go, let him at least go 120 or so. Kind of sucks that Lee over ran the ball. He did make two other similar plays that were equally or more difficult.
Oh well, that was a disappointing end to a phenomenal, career year for Myers. Let's just hope that he comes back strong next season. I don't expect him to be this good again but I'll take an ERA around 4.00 and 200+ IP. Anything better would be a bonus.
To put things in perspective a little, the Reds have a really, really good offense. I believe they lead the NL in team wOBA (kind of an advanced OPS type stat but with better proportional weighting to OBP and SLG). This is the 8th time in 15 games that they've scored 6 or more runs on us this season. If they tack on 2 more runs, it'll be the 4th time that they've scored 11 or more.
on a better side note... this video is very amusing <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/utGXF5orynk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/utGXF5orynk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
