Thats where Houston adding a second pick would come into play. Besides, Randolph being only 21 would be like drafting high in the lottery. This is how people should look at the situation instead of worrying about how the picks are going to turn out.
The next 2 drafts are supposed to be comparably weaker than the last 2. So those picks, although important, are not worth passing up a talent like Randolph now.

Try making it a 4 team trade where we get back Iguodala and Randolph.

I'm not advocating holding onto them; just looking at them from Denver's point of view. If it's true that Melo considers NY the only viable option, then obviously it would make good sense for us to get involved and jettison the picks now. All signs would point to CP3 joining them the following year.

Either way, I'm not losing any sleep over it. As we speak, a crack team of analysts down at Toyota Center are consulting their magic ouija boards to determine the best way forward.

I'd do it for one pick for sure, as Randolph is at least relatively proven talent, and most likely better than anyone we'd pick up in the draft. Especially if we work under the assumption that NY could find another first to facilitate a Melo trade elsewhere.

When matched up against the Lakers they need more size to handle Bynum, Odom, Gasol and a guy like Randolph helps a ton. I see Randolph being the next best possible option behind Bosh so hopefully DM the GM will be all over it if possible.

    Yao / Miller / Hayes / Hill
    Scola / Randolph / Patterson
    Battier / Budinger
    Martin / Lee / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry / Smith

Not to mention Randolph can play the 3, the 4, and could possibly play 5 in the future. He could easily be our Odom, but with a higher ceiling.

Denver is not going to like anything the Knicks give them. Not even if we trade the NY picks to Denver in a 3 way trade so that Melo ends up in NY. If NY gets Melo then those draft picks will be in the low 20's. Denver wants lottery picks. Not Galo and 2 late first rounders. That would be stupid on Denvers part.

Also, Denver would probably reject that trade if they didn't accept the Nets offer. They're taking on salary again, getting worse players and crappier picks.

I don't know why people are so sold on Randolph being a SF? The guy is 6'11. He's either going to be a PF or a Center in this league.

Secondly, it's tough to really understand who NY is willing to ship out. Gallo is apparently untouchable and Randolph is a player they would like to keep as well. Gallo right now plays the SF spot on their team. I've read where D'toni would like to have Gallo playing PF during certain stretches of the game. I think it's easier for NY to trade Gallo then for them to trade Randolph. If NY somehow lands Melo, he's going to play SF. I think it would be in NY's best interest to keep Randolph at the PF with Amare at the Center spot.

Does anyone know for sure that D'Toni wants to put Amare back at 5 or does he plan on moving him back to PF with Randolph at the 5?

Id love Anthony Randolph here. Thats a good thing. Another size guy added to our team worth first round picks. Young and already shows some promise. You add him to Hill, Yao, Miller, Hayes, Patterson? We have an overflow of good bigs. Bigs are a premium in this league and a guy like Randolph is perfect behind Scola until he is ready to take over.
