Wow, that was embarrassing. I stopped playing Live in 2005 once I got ESPN NBA 2K5. Been a 2K guy ever since.
I liked the fact that I can score 200+ points in Live on superstar level with 1 superstar and garbage role players.
2K10 has 2KShare anyway, there are completely up to date rosters with actual rookies on 2k share and they have been there for a while.
OMG IM DYINGG!!!! HAHAHAHAHA...What even funnier is the same thing happened on 2K10, except 3 players from my bench was standing like that in the middle of the court. My friend and I fcking died laughing when we saw that.
Wait, so you're saying that they aren't trying to fix bugs to make it the best product it can be for the consumers? TRAVESTY! /sarcasm.
....that's really a shame that they have to push it back - this was their time to maybe steal back some 2k guys after the frustration with the buggy version they released last year. I know I was at least interested in being objective about what NBE Elite had to offer this year but after watching this it's clear I made the right decision years ago going with the 2k series for more realistic gameplay. For whatever reason the guys who work on the EA basketball series don't go to the same lengths to deliver a realistic experience that the Madden guys do. It's really a shame because EA used to be the ultimate sports game franchise and now they really just have football and golf(my international friends say real soccer fans don't play the EA soccer games) as the best for those sports. The Show is the best baseball game and the 2k Series wins it for basketball. ...when 2k added did the My player career, that about sealed it for me - there is nothing more fun than creating your own player and building them up to be a superstar but this year I might actually be more excited to play the legends teams with classic Lakers, Bulls, and Hawks teams. I hear they are even going to bring more teams in as special downloads later on because to me the greatest series we never did get to see is Drexler/Dream vs Jordan (when he was suspended for gambling - it happened!).
I think when the 2k Series first hit the dreamcast it was very close and a toss up on which game to get. Early Years 2k = Live (more or less) Middle Years 2k > Live (2k is starting to pull ahead of live in terms of graphics, game play, animation, features, just overall polish, Live still had the edge in terms of presentation that was about it) Recent Years 2k >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Live (for some reason 2k just continued to get better and Live actually took a a step backwards. The game was NOTICEABLY worse than 2k in almost every single category, except for maybe the menu system. 2k has a horrible menu system and anyone that has played the last few 2k games knows its super frustrating to navigate the confusing menu. But other than that 2k was light years ahead of Live. EA saw this and wanted to shed the name Live in hopes of getting a reboot. Unfortunately I played the Elite demo and it was horrible. It's a worse game than 2k7/2k8 which is 3-4 years old. The graphics are even worse.. Go figure.. I dont think EA can recover from this)
Which is downright sad. EA had the money, resources, market share, fame, etc to crush 2k the minute they became a threat. EA has to comeback and build a sim based game, the days of arcade/nba jam gameplay have long been dead. I hope EA can bounce back because competition is good for consumers.
I think it was most likely a marketing decision... Live has been getting a bad rep lately and they wanted to get rid of that stigma so they tried to change the name in hopes people won't associate Live w/ crap. Unfortunately it's still crap.. "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig" definitely applies for Live/Elite/Crap
Yes, I have worked with EA sports up in Vancouver. They definitely have the resources but their NBA team isnt that big and I guess they are not very talented programmers. They lost their top guy back to the 2k series after he got fed up with their incompetence. I agree I hope they bounce back since competition is good for the consumer. But one positive is I don't have to agonize on which game to get like a few years ago. The right decision is very clear and obvious, even more so this year since there won't even be a Live/Elite game on the shelves
Imo, Elite will not be released at all. Doesn't make sense to release the game, lets say in January, when many gamers have made the switched to 2k. Statistics say, once you switch, its unlikely you switch back for awhile. The financial impact on EA will not be a drop in the bucket. EA will release Elite in the next cycle; meaning Elite '12 next fall. This will allow them nearly a full year to either scratch the whole thing and go back to the drawing board or build on what they have now. this is my guess.
