This sorta goes along with the BEST COVER thread but it's a bit different. I thought of this while listening to Boston's "Long Time" the other day. That song would ROCK if done by David Lee Roth and Van Halen. Think about it.

I was at a YES concert years ago and they had an awesome rendition of PURPLE HAZE. If often wondered what songs groups jam to when just screwing around.

So my question is: What song would make a good cover for what group?

Any Motorhead song, other than Orgasmotron, being covered by Pantera or Sepultura. It would be awesome to hear a whole cover CD of this great band (Motorhead) being covered by another great band (Pantera or Sepultura - with Max leading).

I would love to hear Shawn Colvin do a cover of "Constant Craving", by k.d. lang and Bob Mink.

Leann Rimes singing anything by Patsy Cline. Damn, she needs to get back to that kind of music. Blue was unbelievable. I pulled off the road when I hear it; I was like man who is this girl. Leann get back to Patsy!

I don't know, it's pretty hard to top k.d. lang's version of anything. Her voice is like something from another world. I heard her do a version of Joni Mitchell's "Help Me" that had me absolutely floored. I love Joni but k.d. pretty much blew her out of the water.

Shawn and k.d. are both incredible singers. They just have differing styles. Have you heard Shawn's version of "Viva Las Vegas" at the end of The Big Lebowski? Slow, soulful and dripping with the blues. I haven't been able to find it on an album. It's not on the movie soundtrack or any of her records... at least I haven't located it yet.

Anti-sonic put a favorite screen moment in his sig. Great scene. I can't tell you how many times that comes to mind in RL.

I'd like to see a lou reed retrospective. King of urban cool. I'd like superdrag doing get away from growing up in public. Or viscious could get an warm overdrive. Sonic Youth could do a lot with the catalog, including velvets.
