just a word of warning for those of you thinking about going to uverse.

I recall in past seasons, threads being started about uverse not showing Rockets games...now I dont remember what the issue ended up being...but there *has* been issues with them in past years.

Are you serious? First the Texans lose to the Cowboys and now this?
Terrible week for me so far.

Exactly, I was one of them..
I've been living in San Marcos for the last 2 years, so I've had to rely on internet feeds, but we had U-verse in Houston the 2 years prior to that and both years the random games would be blacked out for no reason. I'd talk to multiple U-verse agents and they'd seem to make up excuses out of the air. THEN, sometimes, if the game wasn't blacked out but I was unable to watch live and had to DVR it.. Random recorded games just wouldn't play. And we never had this problem with any other recorded shows. 1 out of ever 5 recorded games just flat out wouldn't play.

Not sure if they've fixed/straightened up or gotten better since, but there were many emo nights for me during those 2 years :(

Fortunately for me(and others ;) ) Comcast has never let me down...any games I missed recording were due to technical problems with my machine and not with the signal from them. They may catch a lot of crap from folks for various reasons...but in over 5 years of doing what I do...Ive never missed a Rockets game from a problem with them.

DN sucks so bad. I'd rather be locked into a life long contract with Comcast than spend another year with DN.

I have had Uverse since Ike hit in Houston and I have not had a blacked out Rockets game. I have either went to every game or watched on TV at home.

I work for Directv and it's the best in my opinion, I also have time warner. Directv gives you numerous alternate feeds in case there is another game going on, for example, if the Spurs and Rockets are playing at the same time, i can watch both, Time warner will only show one of them on basic cable. Dish network from what i hear from the people that call in is constantly in legal and contract issues. Plus if any of you peeps don't have directv at the moment, there is a special promotion for 59$ where you get their top package and the nfl sunday ticket , 5 months at 59$, of course credit check approval.. good luck guys i know ill be watching my Rockets this season.

    Hmm.
Rupert Murdoch owns approximately 35% of DirecTV.

Their closest competitor, Dish Network, is having a pricing showdown with Fox owned content.

    Wonder how that happened?

Let's make sure that this is in fact true. It could just be the OP not seeing the games on his guide or something. Can anyone confirm that Dish will not air Rockets games? Maybe it's just preseason games. Stop freaking out until there is reason to freak out.

I did some research and it seems that direct tv is way ahead of the game.. I have always had dish but direct looks really good and has alot more hd and vairiety of stuf.. Its also a little bit cheaper

no it's true, its another one of those contract negotiations between the owner of those channels and DIsh network.

I saw the ads too. The provider is running them to pressure Dish to cave to their demands.

ehh, IIRC the Astros and Rockets have been wanting to form their own channel for some time solely for the purpose of carrying their games...Here is the latest I have been able to find.

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/7020613.html

If we continue to talk about this, we probably should do so in a thread of its own, this one is supposed to be about the impending loss of Fox channels on Dish.

Recently, like in the past few months, the Rockets have sent surveys about TV viewer ship, and asking if we were willing to pay to watch the Rockets, and all this other stuff. I should have wrote down the questions.

Crap! I just signed up for this crappy cable service called Ygnition this week. Ygnition gets its feed from Dish, and all the hardware in my house has the Dish logo.

The only reason I signed up for it is because Ygnition has the 'exclusive' right to provide cable where I live. I hated the fact that I was not able to choose. (Hated is not a strong enough word)

No Rockets games, no Dish for me.
