Looks like he has a good work ethic. Would have loved to have picked up Hassan in the 2nd round. Gee the Kings really shored up their frontline during the offseason.
I'm going to be utterly sick if this dude end up being a monster steal. Hell, I'd rather have him than Miller or Dampier (Dampier, not so much but Whiteside on a rookie deal vs. $5M per year for Miller is a no-brainer in my book). That said, "In Morey We Trust". It isn't often I disagree or have a problem with any of his roster moves.
Tyreke Evans Omri Casspi DeMarcus Cousins Hassan Whiteside Petri hitting gold. I don't care if DeMarcus becomes the biggest bust since Bowie or if Hassan never plays one complete season, drafting Tyreke....
i'll believe it when i see a pic.....this weight gain stuff is thrown around all the time, usually rounded up, and all depends on how it's distributed. Not to mention some of it comes off as soon as he starts practice again, so it may end up being 15 pounds of muscle, spread over a 7 foot frame? Won't be as significant and impressive as the press release sounds.
I wanted Houston or OKC to pick him up. When they interviewed him on ESPN.com's chat right after he was drafted, one of the first thing he talked about was working out with Olajuwon. Sad panda.
The Kings always end up drafting someone who the fans start clamoring about at that particular point in the draft.
There are soo many problems with the original report. Hassan put on 25 pounds since summer league: possible. It could be 5-10 pounds of muscle and 20-25 pounds of fat. He's ripped now: extremely unlikely - you don't add a large amount of muscle and get ripped at the same time. You need a positive caloric balance to gain significant weight, and a negative caloric balance to get cut. Of course, steroids could change all of that.
Whiteside is an instant impact player in round 2 IMO. The impact will come on the defensive end. It's too bad he gets stuck behind another defensive first big in Dalembert and proven talents like Landry and Thompson plus a star potential guy in Cousins.
The dude that tweeted this is obviously not familiar with working out or putting muscle on. Hassan Whiteside won't put 25lb of muscle on from the time summer league ended until the age of 30.
How do athletes put on so much weight in such a short amount of time? I've been 125-130 since I was 18... and that's 6 years ago.
"Hassan Whiteside has gone from stringbean to the Incredible Hulk. He said he's gained 25(!) pounds since Summer League, just by eating everything he can and lifting a lot of weights, and it really shows in a good way. Its good too, because he knows he still has a lot of work to do, as once again his answer on what he needed to improve on was "everything"." http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2010/9/27/1716099/kings-media-day-impressions
if you've ever taken steroids or prohormones (which are actually worse for your body, but you can still buy them on amazon) then you would know.
