Ok guys, let me talk now. First of all I was not expecting something like Collier. I watch alot of his game, he doesnt impress me that much. I want to know why we traded for a guy that would of gone late first round or early second round. We could of been fine with Pryzbilla but rudy had to trade him. The team doesnt have a frontline that can do anything. I was just hoping for someone better than Collier. Im just in schock how rudy did all this. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
So Francis3, are we still the worst team in the league, or have you calmed down some? ------------------
Collier is a much better fit than Pryzbilla. Pryzbilla said in his pre-draft chat that he's not good at running the floor, hence he wouldn't fit in very well here. Plus, he could've turned into another Quitten. ------------------ "Go to hell Costas"-Dave Nelson after sweeping the ABSCAs on NewsRadio visit www.swirve.com
Well Behad maybe I was out of line there. I was just too shocked and was just going crazy. I think since dallas and clippers got all those deals and we got nothing, I started thinking how we have the least talented players and just said that we have the worst team. I didnt mean that but I dont think this team can make the playoffs next year unless rudy does something crazy this summer. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Remember, LA Clippers have had top draft choices for years and years and still are losers. It's more than just who you get in the draft, it's what you do with them (and in the Clippers case, it's how you treat them). ------------------
Put Brakes on Rush to Judgment! Urinate and moan all you want over not getting a chance at Miller, Johnson and Miles. So will I. However, let's give Collier and Langhi a chance. Besides, Rudy and Dawson may have something up their sleeves -- maybe a sign and trade we don't know about. Getting Rashard Lewis, Austin Croshere or even Maurice Taylor via a sign and trade for Kenny Thomas and Bryce Drew (two #1 salaries) would be a thought. I know, I know. Taylor can't play defense, but with the Clippers he never had any motivation. Will Perdue is available as a backup center and he'll probably come cheap. If we lose Mobley to FA, then there were some shooting guard prospects that went undrafted, ie, Shea Cotton, and Johnny Helmsley as well as two SF that could be converted, ie, Harold Arceneaux and JaRon Rush. Remember, Rudy can teach them how to defend, but nobody can give them scoring instincts, which Collier and Langhi definitely have. ------------------ Writesmart
scarface i disagree with you about denver and the clips and the grizz. They will not i repeat will not have better records than us this year. The grizzs front line is as weak as ours the clippers are too young and denver is the same as last year and we beat them. Also i believe the rockets will get croshere/lewis and resign mobley. Furthermore look at it this way after pick number 6-7 the talent dropped off big time cuz personally i didnt want moiso cuz he has a problem playing with passion and is limited offensively so essentially he looks like a replica of cato. Also przybilla will be a defensive center in the league nothin more and i my opinion wasnt worth a lottery pick. Youre forgetting in next years draft przybilla would have been a late 1st-2nd round pick. Thats why the deal for collier was a steal because he can stretch the defense and even better we got an extra pick in next years talent rich draft. We will come out of next years draft with 1-2 stars with our 3-4 picks + with dream retiring we will have an excellent chance of signing a big time free agent(webber..finley,etc.). Also i look for cato to have a breakout year this year cuz last year he was essentially a rookie(hadnt gotten much pt in portland). Likewise drew may not be a diamond in the rough but you are forgetting he can play well and perhaps start for an nba team. Shooters like him are always a need in the nba and he has a tremendous basketball iq and will enable us to get a free agent this summer. Finally i see the playoffs next year looking like this: 1. la lakers 2. Minnesota 3. Portland 4. Phoenix 5. Utah 6. Dallas 7. Houston 8 Sacramento or if duncan signs with sa 1, lakers 2. san antonio 3. portland 4. phoenix 5. minnesota 6. utah 7. dallas 8. houston. ------------------
I think if Duncan re-signs with San An then they will be no 1 in the west.. reason being that Grant Hill will sign for the minimum with them if Duncan is playing there.. or so he says.. of course I wouldn't mind if both of them went out to Orlando - it'd make the West a bit weaker and would put another team in there which could beat up on Milwaukee and give them a worse record ------------------
This will be fun to watch Detroit and the Bucks fight it out. What are the restrictions on the Detroit pick and the timeframe for settlement? Mango ------------------ Eat more spinach! Live long and prosper! Donate blood! Smeg will be assimilated. Now...back to updating The Serious Police Files.
Mango-That is pretty unknown. I'd think it ends next year. But people are saying Philadelphia (who we got it from) got it from the Stackhouse deal, on Stackhouse's nba.com transactions part, it makes no mention of a pick. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
i am beginning to wonder as well about that pick..... truth is i really think that collier is not all that bad. the man is a team player. yes he needs to workon his body and a few small skills but collier works hard and dirty. He used to play in GT and from what i've seen the boy was only slowed down because of a big brick gt used to base their offence on. I think collier will surprise alot of us, but if they decide to trade the fella and a couple others for rashard lewis i'm up for the deal ------------------ TycoonChip
I did a lot of research on the Mirsad trade the day after we made it and if I remember correctly Detroit had to give Philly the pick within 4-6? years its allready been two drafts since then so we could get it in the next draft or draft after. But we still owe Vancouver a #1 next year so..... ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
Bro I'm sorry but Vancouvers frontline is STRONG now, not weak, they have Rahim(all-star in my oppinion) Swift(potential to be the next KG) Big Country(very good offensive player) Harrington(solid) compare that to us.....Ummm nothing. Compare the backcourts and they are almost equal to us. We have Anderson and Mobley they have Dickerson. I would rather have Dickerson anyday, we have Francis and he is clearly the better of the two teams PG's but Bibby is a very good Point guard himself and is more of a pure point versus the hybrid point that we have. Vancouver has a better overall team and if Sidney Lowe is even 10% better of a coach as he was at Minnesota then sparring anything unusual i can honestly say that i think they will be better than us. As far as Denver they were better than us last year by a game, so we did not beat them. At the end of the season they had a chance to make the playoffs and then just imploded, like I said before if McDLT is still there and is happy and Van Ex is there they will be better. The Clipps have a VERY good posibility to be better than us next year, depending on if the organization is really commited to winning. The moves that they made on Draft-Night were simply amazing, and totaly out of character for the Clip-Joint. If they are serious about winning and hire a good coach I can see them passing us up next year. The fact of the matter is Dallas has improved and they were already better. Denver was already better and if they get D.Anderson from the Clipps they will be way better, add to that the already aquisitions of Vashon Lenard and Mark Strickland and you have some much needed depth. Vancouver with Swift instantly becomes better add to the already young core of players they have and they are 1 or 2 players away and with the trade of Othella looming then they will become a serious threat to any team. Also the Warriors have improved themselves also this year if they can find some frontcourt help they can also be better. I know these are all "IF's" and I know the same "IF's" can be applied to the Rockets but until it happens we suck. We will be better than the Wizards for sure after that who knows. Other teams improved this year we stayed the same, which is hard for me to believe when we had the #9 pick in the draft. I'm not even attempting to say that I or the others are a Draft Guru but when I feel this strongly about something I am usualy right, and until we trade Jason for Austin then I hereby deem last Wednesday "BLACK WEDNESDAY". ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day [This message has been edited by Scarface (edited July 04, 2000).]
Scarface, even though the magic just GAVE the clippers a bunch of good players does not mean they will be better than us. Their team with Taylor and Anderson had a lot of talent. What did they do with it? Nothing. If we rocket fans have learned anything from this past year is that it takes time for a young team to develop a winning chemistry. As for the grizzlies, i'm sick of them getting a top 4 pick every year for the past 5 years, taking all the talent, and doing nothing. After a couple more years of losing and top picks, they MIGHT have a better team than us, but they still have no depth or bench. That's my view, i was just sick of people saying that the clippers were better than us. Who's their PF anyway? ------------------ Hakeem, Hasaw, Haconquered.
That some very good points Scarface, I agree with pretty much everything you said. As far as talent goes the Rockets are a lot closer to the bottom then they are to the top. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
These are all very good points, but the fact is that we are evaluating everything on paper. Certainly some of the other teams such as Vancouver and LA look better on paper, but who looked the worst on paper last year? Answer: Orlando, but they had a better record than us, because they had good chemistry. Rudy knows how to create chemistry among his players, abd if the Rockets play next anything like they did the last 20-25 games of last season, Vancouver and LA (Clips) won't be able to touch em. ------------------ "Nothing is certain but the unforseen." The fact is before NO 1 wanted to play for the Clipps now these guys are going to be happy playing with each other, the organization actualy put forth an effort to suceed, which has never before happened in the Clipp Joint. As far as Vancouver is concerned they have more depth than us now and a better starting lineup. Guys I love my Rockets and I am forever gratefull of Rudy and the rest of the organization for winning us those two championships, but I'am not ashamed to point out mistakes, and quite frankly this was a mistake. I dont think we took a step back but we sure as hell didnt even move a millimeter forward. If we draft bust to the end of Rudy's reign as our coach I will still be gratefull, and you wanna know why? Because that peice of crap Patterson family is not running the show here anymore. John Turner, Adrian Caldwell, Derick Chievous, Buck Johnson, trading for Joe Berry Carrol. Man we are lucky Charlie Thomas and the Pattersons aren't still here, they made some of Nellies draft picks look good. Any how all I wanted to say is its ok to be real and us being horrible next year is REAL. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
Some points people might have missed: 1. All of our young people are a year more experienced. 2. Last year our team was decimated by injury. 3. The Bull shot a better 3pt% than anyone in Rocket history. 4. At the end of the season last year we beat Portland and the Lakers. ------------------ I'm sticking with Charlotte.
