    1. The only teams that are proven in the east are the magic and Boston. The heat are being overhyped, the bulls are pretty good, but they still can't mess with the top 2 teams.

    2. You do realize that only 4 people on the spurs are over the age of 30?

    3. The elite teams that are proven in the west are the lakers, thunder and IMO the spurs. But still. After that the west is so good you can't put them in order. Rockets mavericks and blazers are easily contenders.

    4. Pheonix is being very underrated, so what if Nash is aging, there isn't any signs of him slowing down. Turkoglu is going to shine with Nash, and expect warrick to be putting up nice number around 15 and 7.5.

    5. And you still have 2 teams with tremendous talents that could easily be a top team if they have the right chemistry with Memphis and the clippers.

What does the east have? Magic, Boston, heat, bulls, and hawks
teams with great potential, bucks and Charlotte. Avg teams...pistons, wizards and ny Horrid teams...raptors, nets, and cavs.

I honestly think the Nuggets got a better deal than the Nets. I mean a young player in Favors, Harris and a couple of first rounders for Melo? I mean how good is Melo? I guess they worried more about having a big name than anything else.

I'm glad Houston didn't make a trade for Anthony. As good as he is, I don't think its worth giving up some of our core players for him. I rather stick to what we got.

I know nearly everyone here is saying, "alright - we get to keep the Knicks picks" but consider that the latest report is they are expecting a really weak draft class of 2011 as good collegiate players are considering staying in college to avoid the lockout(being under contract, but not getting paid) meaning lesser players are going to be getting guaranteed first rounder money. Maybe Morey can still flip the Knicks 2011(I believe we have to switch with the Knicks), but if I"m Houston I don't want to get stuck with that pick as it would be of lesser value with a shallower talent pool in 2011. Anyway something to consider...

This is a bad move for the Nets. And for Melo, he's supporting cast in NJ would be weaker than the Nuggets...

In a year or 2, he'll probably be forcing a trade again!

Glad that the Rockets didn't get him! He's a score only player who's not even that efficient (compared with superstars such as LeBron, Wade or Dirk)

i dont get it, hows this bad for the nets?

    their goal was

    one year til the playoffs
    5 years til the title

    now look at this lineup:

    augustin
    williams
    carmelo
    murphy
    lopez

now THAT IS A PLAYOFF TEAM in the East.

next off season they'll have a boatload of capspace.

which part of this is bad for the nets and their ambitions?

...don't believe the hype there. Ginobili and Duncan both slowed noticeably this year and they are the only guys on that roster who are/were capable of performing at an elite level. Parker is good but not great. After that, all the younger talent on that roster are just role players(I do like George Hill quite a bit though) which is fine, but I don't seriously expect SA to be a contender this year if it hinges on two over the hill stars and a younger star with a recent injury history. They will always be a team you can't sleep on because of how well they are coached, but their talent level is not on par with any of the serious contenders in the West.

plus beaubois and they are much better than last year

agreed. i think both teams (nj & den) are getting the most out of the situation.

If I'm NJ, I don't do this deal. 5 years down the line they would have a more developed, potential beast in Favors, a stud PG and a really good center in his prime. To give up 2 good starters is a risky risky move.

Charlotte also comes out as winners. Basically, they upgrade at the PG, something that they sorely lacked and also dump chubby Diaw.

    Harris
    Jackson
    Wallace
    Thomas
    Mohammed

The losers in this trade are the Jazz. They lose AK47 and get the far inferior player in Diaw. This is just a pure salary dump on their part.

this is a superstar league. their whole plan and ambition was to score a superstar or 2, thats why they cleared all those salaries off their books with jefferson, carter, and kidd. now they struck out on all their superstars because they went to other teams, they want carmelo anthony.

dont worry, harris is nothing special. a superstar is worth 2 regular starters in this leaguue(im not talking about trade value, but player value on the court and the team).

favors, well, if everyone turned out like dwight howard of course they'd keep him. but with his bust potential he could just turn out like another tyrus thomas. troy murphy is sufficient.

next year with their capspace, sign a starter PG and they have their big 3

uh how is utah worse off with diaw than kirilenko?

this deal is good for utah every sort of way you want to look at it.

they are simply a small market.
