    Hey Guys,

I have an older car that doesn't have an auxiliary jack for my iPod. I tried the FM radio tuners but the sound quality is just terrible. I checked prices at Best Buy and its $49.99 for labor and $100 for parts + tax. $160 total.

I was wondering if you guys knew of a better solution.

    Thanks

On my 2000 Camry, I just replaced the stereo system with the cheapest one that has an aux jack. The stereo system I got was around 70 and the mounting kit (they sell those at best buy too for specific cars) for about 20. You can get DIY instructions from http://www.installdr.com/

My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee didn't have an aux input, but it had hookups for a CD changer on the rear of the headunit. I was able to buy a connector that allowed me to use those CD changer hookups to wire in an aux input.

FM transmitters suck donkey booty. Try those cd/mp3 tape adapters. I get so much better quality that way and save on ton by not getting a aux input installed.

Do you have a cassette deck on that older car? Just get yourself an adapter.

As long as you old stereo has an "AUX" button or "input" select, there should be a way to input a video or audio source... what model car and stereo do you have? Is it the factory one?

^ SeƱor Tinman knows what he's talking about. He recommended that one to me, too. I just haven't done the switch 'cuz I still use my cassette adapter way.

It might be worthwhile just to buy a new Ipod ready deck. You can get one for $100-$150 now, and if you time it right Best Buy offers free installation as a promotion pretty frequently. You can then buy the ipod cable and have them run it to your glove box. Some of the radios also have the front auxiliary input if you want to go that route.
