    Ughh... I prefer to go after Patrick O'Bryant, his a legit 7'0 with a 7'6 wingspan and mobile. For the amount of time and things we would ask of him to do as a 3rd string center (mostly blockshots and rebound) he would be a more Ideal fit than Mbenga in my opinion.

    Surprise, surprise. Miami was indeed the obvious choice all along.

    I get the idea that Dampy was Yao insurance, and helps us with other bigs, etc.
    And I know he would be a 'bargain' for what we offered, at least on paper.

    Here's why I won't be disappointed if we lose him to Miami though.

    1. If Yao goes down and we rely on Dampy, we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs anyway. He's just not that good, and he really falls off in the playoffs, mainly due to his slothlike speed. We all know the Rockets go deep this year only if Yao stays on the court into April and May.
    2. All the other points I've made in this thread already. Other than some offensive rebounds, he's just not much better than Brad Miller, and he's not as good a fit for an Adelman offense.

    @IraHeatBeat

    A source close to the process says it now appears that Erick Dampier is moving away from the Heat and toward another suitor. Stay tuned.

    The saga lives on.....will we get the 2nd best center in the Western Conference? :rolleyes:

    What do you think about Fesenko? Maybe we could get him out of this possible 20 team Nets/Denver trade and pass on Dampier.

    Some team is going to offer him a large chunk of its MLE (like what the Rockets offered Brad Miller). He'd be stupid not to take that much more money than the league minimum.

    Isn't it somewhat convenient that Miller gets hurt and Adelman badmouth's Yao's readiness to even play 24 mpg when Dampier faces the decision?

    more conspiracy theories.....it can't be that:

    1. miller is actually hurt;

    2. and yao really has limited minutes since his foot is held together by pins.

    it MUST be something else.

    man, i understand being a fan..but holy crap.

    Your Yao comments are starting to sound like Leeb's Battier comments.

    when you have this many bigs w/ age-injury problems an extra cheap hand w/ some exp.cant hurt yeah if everybody stays healthy it will be hard to get p.t. (but i would give you good odds they wont) plus only Yao/ Miller/ Dampeir ARE CENTER ONLY players everybody else plays2 or more spots

    because i believe the man is actually coming off a serious injury that i already knew was going to limit his minutes??

    so if i take the team at face value regarding his limited playing time...and dont assume some alternative motive for the team's statements regarding that....then it's my darkside??

    seriously, dada...you're living in la la land with all this.

    No, because you post about Yao in threads that are not about Yao, and you are constantly taking the negative view of him.

    It's ok, I do it all the time too....just pointing it out.

    Yes, fair enough in this thread, and I am not going to dig around in others, but you have been in a lot of them talking about his glass feet, etc...

    It is clear you have moved on from Yao, and I completely understand it.

    What would happen if he plays 20mpg and contributes 13-6 with a defensive presence? An uber role player?

    See, that is all I am looking for.....I think the team benefits big time from that, and if he does better and is more healthy come playoff time...well...then the sky is the limit.

    Either way, I know you want him gone.....that has to be frustrating to have moved on and the organization is hanging on....been there done that, bought the t-shirt.
