I couldn't. Kyrylo Fesenko going back to the Jazz (either re-signed or via matched offer sheet)? Now, THAT I could see happening. But perhaps my psychic powers are not as great as yours. (Man, you must be bored. Don't worry. So am I.)
What's the situation with Dampier? I thought he was pretty much a lock for us? He worked out twice at TC and met with Adelman. Also, we could net Anderson in a seperate, but simultanuos deal with the Ariza TPE.
Dampier is in Miami today. According to reports, he's probably going to make a decision tomorrow. My guess is that, barring some unforeseen debacle when he works out/tours the facilities in Miami, Dampier's going to pick Miami over Houston. Honestly, I would if I were him.
Could we offer him more money than the Heat? I know that we have offered him a 2 year/4 million dollar contract.
The most the Rockets could offer Dampier (at least on a two-year deal) is 2 years, ~$4.33M. The most the Miami Heat could offer Dampier is 2 years, ~$2.75M (the league minimum for a 10+ year veteran). Also note that Dampier can probably expect to receive a larger playoff share if the Heat go further in the Eastern Conference playoffs than the Rockets do in the West. Is the salary difference ($1,574,712 over two years, to be exact, minus any additional playoff bonus with Miami) really THAT much of a determining factor for a guy whose already made as much money as he has? I don't think so. But maybe that's just me. Here's hoping Dampier takes the money and becomes the Rockets' third-string center.
Here's a trade I thought up the other day... Its similar to 'ASidd' trade proposal... ... Houston Rockets: SF Carmelo Anthony, C Chris Andersen We get a second legitimate Star to pair up with Yao, while still keeping Martin. As well as a 3rd string center in Chris Andersen, who can rebound and block shots. Sacramento Kings: PG Aaron Brooks, PF Ronaldo Balkman They get a legitimate PG who already has chemistry with their starting PF(landry) and also allows them to move Tyreke Evans to his more natural position at the 2. Denver Nuggets: PF Jordan Hill, PF/C Jason Thompson, SF Donte Greene, Battier/Jeffries(expirings), Johnson/Harris(non-guaranteed), 2011 HOU pick, 2011 NY pick(swap) and 2012 NY pick Denver receives everything they're looking for from young players to picks, and everything in between. They also get to unload both Balkman and Andersen's contracts to the other two teams. --RB
Dude, the 2011 Pick is a Pick swap. We get either the higher of our pick or Knicks pick. That means we only have one 2011 pick, either ours or NY's. Can't trade something we ain't got.
Off-Topic...WTF is up with the trade machine? Everytime I try to plug in a trade, NOTHING happens??? It's been this way for weeks, did they change something?
I think there system crashed after the CP3 trade rumors a couple months back. It works if the trade works, if it doesn't it won't tell you why.
Well that's stupid, how am I suppose to know how much to add or subtract if it fails? I guess I am going to have to use my brain for once...lol
Even still, the Rockets can't trade their 2011 pick and BOTH 2012 picks, for the same reason that the Knicks can't trade their 2011 pick. You cannot be without a first round pick in two consecutive future NBA drafts.
Do you guys think Morey is crazy enough to trade for Melo, without having him sign an extension. Think about it, Brooks, Jeffries, Hill, Taylor, Hayes, and picks for Melo. Out of the players we send, the most impact player would be Brooks, who is a free agent next year and will get paid. The rest of the players are expirings or players who won't get much playing time here. So pretty much, Melo for Brooks and picks. We'll have Melo's bird rights and may have a chance to sign him after. I think its worth it one year rental of Melo.
I like this trade a lot! I wonder if Philly would go for it! Anyway, If the Rockets lose out on Carmelo. I think we should still try to get ourselves involved in any Carmelo trade, by being a third team facilitator... Knicks get: Carmelo Anthony Rockets get: Anthony Randolph Nuggets get: Danilo Gallinari Eddy Curry(expiring) Jordan Hill Jermaine Taylor NY pick 2011/NY pick 2012 So this way we upgrade from Jordan Hill to Anthony Randolph, and Nuggets get the draft picks that they desire...But of course this would only be plan B, if Carmelo decides that he wont sign an extension with the rockets or Denver doesn't want to do a trade with us directly..
Possible lottery 1st + Hill + Taylor is overpaying for Randolph. Morey does not have that word in his vocabulary.
Let's go crazy!!! Denver gets: Martin Harris TE for Birdman 2011 swap Phillie gets: Jeffries Bud Patman Johnson NY 2012 1ST rd pick G. State gets: Battier Hill Taylor Hou 2011 2nd rd Houston gets: Melo Iggy Ellis Birdman Line-up: Brooks/Lowry/Ish Ellis/Lee Melo/Iggy Scola/Hayes/Birdman/Miller Yao/Miller/Hayes/Birdman You could start Ellis or Lee in order to balance out the offense/defense. Man, we have assets up the assets!!!
NY receives: Jordan Hill + NY 2012 pick Houston gets: Anthony Randolph Is NY desperate enough? Do you want him that bad Donny? Well heres your chance!! Yeah, Randolph is just that good!
