SR 610 has confirmed that Left Tackle Duane Brown of the Houston Texans has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL policy on PEDs.

That may be true but Kubiak really likes Rashad Butler. Texans have very good offensive line coaches in Rick Dennison, John Benton, and Bruce Matthews. Butler is a former 3rd round pick and this is his chance to prove he can start in this league. He can be an unrestricted free agent next year if there is a new CBA and if he plays well these 4 games, could earn a big payday from some team so there has to be all the motivation for him to play well.

I have a hard time believing that for all of 2010, only two major NFL contributors are using steroids, both on the same team (and one with a small fan base). Goodell knows good and well the rampant problem PEDs are in this league, but if he were to truly do what it takes to stop it, the league would be in shambles. So, he picks and chooses examples, typically against less-nationally relevant teams.

I don't doubt that Duane used a banned substance. My issue is that about 80% of the league most likely does it, and it's only selectively made an example of.

    This sucks.

Rashad Butler is just as athletic as Brown, but he is certainly unseasoned and will be in for a long day against Ware. Good news is that he's been here for over 3 years now, so it's not like we're plugging in a guy we just brought in this week.

I can't even begin to pick a side on this- whether to be pissed at Brown or at the NFL's policy. With Cushing, I genuinely believe he knowingly took something to help him heal his injury. That's on him in my mind. Brown is a good character guy and does not have the personality of a guy that will take risks and do anything it takes to be the best.

Part of me wants to be pissed at him for taking anything other than maybe protein and just working out hard. But then you remember the beating they go through each week, and it's tough to blame them for trying to recover and taking more complex supplements (NOT steroids or HGH, etc).

I doubt Gooddell is specifically picking out the Texans to make an example.

I'm glad he is not appealing it. I would prefer him to miss these next 4 than waiting a couple weeks and miss Cowpokes and Raiders than the Chargers and the Colts.

Salaam was good in his time here, hopefully Butler can play without making too many mistakes.

Pretty annoying that he got caught, I still love the guy because he is a Texan but he knew what he was doing. That man was taking the needle up the a**.

Just gotta get through this game. We have winnable games during this stretch and he'll back just in time for the Colts.

Pretty much how I feel about it. I don't think he's picking on the Texans, and hoping they lose to the Cowboys. I just think he wants to make a example and unfortunately for us our guys don't do a good job of passing these tests.

I think Roger is just making an example of guys like he always looks to do. Sending a message out to public that "Hey...we do strict testing and punish guys that are on it."

Goodell loves to make examples outta players, just like how he suspends players for doing things off the field before they are officially guilty of anything...then calls them into his office so he can play principal.

If there is a silver lining, hopefully it will be a kick to up the intensity even more rather than buy into all the newfound hype.

I agree, even better is that Butler is unrestricted at the end of the year. Man will be playing for a contract.

except he reduces suspensions for players misconduct off the field, or in VY's case, does nothing.
