No...Billups is 34 years old, how did Billups and Melo do last year as leaders of the Nuggs?

If you have to give up something like Bud, Hill, Jeffries and a couple of picks than you have to look at it, any more than that, and I would never do it.

Nets win if Melo is willing to play with Lopez and filler...

Harris and Terrance Williams will be their second tier players. Morrow and Outlaw maybe too.

Heavy on the wings, light in the post.

Wouldn't you give up T-Mac, Landry and Budinger for Melo and Kevin Martin? Cause basically that's what it is with the offer i posted.

I'd throw some assets towards Billups.

PGs seem to be the most durable of all positions (see Kidd and Nash)

I think he has atleast 3 years left of elite level play.

I understand what people are saying, if the Nets offer Derrick Favors it is a done deal, the question is, why would they offer him????

    Lopez - C (top 5 C)

Favors - PF (I know he hasn´t prove anything yet, and I know he will never be as dominant as Howard, as some people like to make comparisons with, but he is a safe bet as an all-star player)

Morrow - SG (I think this guy is very underrated, one of the best pure shooters in the league, which you need when you have good interior players, some will say Terrence Williams has more talent, I don´t)

I think all these 3 guys are future title contenders players (they are all pretty young)

So for me, it is not a good trade for the Nets, WHO PLAYS PF AFTER THE TRADE????

hey DD, I respect you man for saying that it would take too much talent to bring Melo, but if you ask me, it makes even less sense for the Nets, because guys like Brook will only hit his prime, when Melo is on his downfall.

And by adding Melo, they are not instant title contenders, and when that happens, Melo will be 30 plus, so for me, it is debatable if Melo is the best we can get (KNOWING THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO GUT OUR ROTATION/YOUNG GUNS), what for me is not debatable is the fact that it makes no sense for a team like the Nets to do this trade, knowing that they only have a chance to win, 4 to 5 years from now

What you do is keep your young studs, develop them, stack hight draft picks (aka Thunder) get lucky (you can´t control), and go from there, like what SAC is doing....

    Dampier mulling Rockets' offer
Free agent center also considering joining Heat

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/7209960.html

Free agent center Erick Dampier visited with Rockets coach Rick Adelman on Monday and will work out for a second-consecutive day at Toyota Center while considering the Rockets’ contract offer, a person with knowledge of the process said Monday.

Dampier is also scheduled to visit with the Miami Heat with his choice now expected to come down to the Rockets and Heat.

Dampier was traded by the Dallas to Charlotte in an off-season deal for Tyson Chandler, and the Bobcats released the final, non-guaranteed season of Dampier’s contract in a cost-cutting move last week.

While the Rockets pursue a center to add depth to the position, they also have stepped up their efforts for a more significant move to get Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony, according to a person familiar with their efforts.

The Rockets are “involved” in talks with Nuggets representatives about inquiring Anthony, with Anthony indicating that the Rockets would be among teams with whom he would agree to a contract extension.

The Nuggets are seeking a top player, preferably a top young player, draft picks and cap relief.

The Rockets could use the trade exception acquired in the Trevor Ariza trade last week to provide the cap relief, but would not be able to offer the prospects taking at the top of the draft that the New Jersey Nets, considered the favorites to land Anthony, could offer. Any deal with the Rockets would likely have to include Kevin Martin in order to make the money work in a trade between teams over the salary cap.

With Anthony heading into the final season of his contract and unwilling to sign an extension with Denver, the Nuggets had hoped that new vice president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri could convince Anthony to commit long-term to remain in Denver. Anthony, however, has been steadfast in his preference to move on, offering to instead sign an extension as part of a trade.

Fore better or worse, I knew Morey was going to to go after Melo.

Perhaps we can engage Philly in a 3-way, send Philly Jeffries, Brooks and a future pick, Iggy, Hill, and the Knicks 2011 goes to Denver and Melo comes to Houston?

I really think Denver will deal him before the regular season starts.

One thing I think I underestimate with our trades is the value of battier, not so much to them, but if offloaded, they could probably get something decent out of someone like orlando who could certainly use some shoring up defensively at small forward against what they'll be facing.

Morey is starting to go to work. Hope he doesn't trade Kevin Martin though.

I just find it hard to believe that Morey will move Martin in a trade for Melo, it just doesn't feel right. It makes sense but for whatever reason I don't see it. I can actually see Brooks, Bud and Hill going before Martin.

The trade that would compete with the Nets' offer is definitely involving Martin or Brooks. I know a package consisting of Martin + Battier + Hill + Jeffries + pick will make sense since we acquired Courtney Lee and it'll be hard for Denver to say no to, somehow I'd rather trade Brooks than Martin although trading AB means we need a starting PG. Lowry is a solid backup PG but somewhat a liability as a starter since Adelman's offense requires a PG that can shoot the 3. I wanna see Kev-Mart and Melo play together!

I think to offset Favors the Rox will need to include either both picks or both Bud and Hill or PP. Brooks might be as good as gone and probably Battier or Jeffries.
