Don't go to sleep on the Clips, they got them some talent...if BD is 'playing' this year, that is. And, they have Del Negro. Well...
They have sufficient roto-talent. Can BD be motivated and can VDN put pieces together ok? All right, those are two verily yea big queries...
Upbeat music set to mostly slow motion highlights with no coordination between music and action makes this a dull video. The production in the beginning was nice, but that's like putting a dress on a pig. I find the Clippers team equally unexciting.
...and then I realized it's only the Clips. They can have the big 3 and still find a way to mess it up.
Not to derail the thread (especially with a Lakers video) but this is one that blew me away with its production value when I saw it years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swgKt5GsKVA
Haven't seen the video yet, but I have to say that I like Clippers this season. They may not be a great team and anything close to that, but I wouldn't be suprised if they made the playoffs this year, really. I know and understand there have been black clouds over the organization for years, but you can call it a BS. They finally got rid of Dunleavy, who in my opinion was the worst coach in the NBA. And they replaced him with the most underrated coaches in the NBA. The job Del Negro did with the Bulls was amazing. At least he is gonna make them play hard and belive they can compete for the playoffs. It will be an interesting season. Blake Griffin has chances to become really special player and I just hope he is not the next Greg Oden. Hopefully with all those addition Baron can belive in himself and play better. They have good young pieces in Gordon and Aminu as well. Damn, I really like their chances. And I wish him the best. Definetly one of my favourite teams for this upcoming season.

I disagree. The music wasn't really that upbeat. Plus, I find slow motion to actual build excitement. It has been the basis of a lot of official NBA marketing campaigns (where amazing happens, etc.) - in fact, often in super slow motion. And, as you noted, there is solid other production in the beginning. I agree. Interested to see them play occasionally, see what Blake has...but in general, there are a lot more exciting squads out there. i think that video is probably a bit in bad taste, as every once in a while these types of things do actually happen, but the onion is just so spot on with it, and so fake-serious about it, i couldn't help but laugh. "I just though, oh god, please let it have killed Chris Kaman"...
I find it very surprising that you don't consider the music "upbeat", but I suppose that is subjective to a certain degree. You're right about the use of slow motion in campaigns such as Where Amazing Happens...but those spots were accompanied by slow, elegant music that fit the footage. I don't oppose the use of slow motion (it's been in a few of the videos I made) but it doesn't work with this kind of music. Just my opinion.
yeah, it's certainly more upbeat than the Where Amazing Happens stuff...I just didn't find it generally to be extremely upbeat. your videos are badass...i just thought you came down a little hard on this one. if there was a rockets video in the exact same style, it would get a ton of praise, generally, I think. the kobe video link you posted, i'd agree, is better.

Well before you get into the basketball mixing game, you think any mix is great/good/etc. But then when you see the crazy mixes that some of these fans make, it really puts everything into perspective, mixes like these which would have looked good for me a few years ago, doesn't wow me now.
I don't even see how it's possible for a fan to make a video that's executed that cleanly. I mean, whoever did it must have access to an absolutely monstrous archive of HD quality footage. It's the kind of video I envision making, but can never achieve. Simply incredible I appreciate the compliment, but I admit my videos aren't of the highest production value. For starters, I never had the advanced editing programs to really pull that off. I like to think my videos are more about tapping into the emotions of the Houston fan base like only a fellow Rockets fan could. Take my videos and post them on mixmakers.net, and they receive a collective shoulder shrug. As for this Clippers video, I don't think I was too harsh. Just honest.
