Are the Rockets not confident in his surgically repaired foot? Didnt Ilgauszkas come back from the same surgery yao just had? He seems to be doing fine.
This really doesnt make me feel very confident about the rockets chances to contend.

    I feel you.

We definitely need to make a major move as it sounds like we finally have some clarity as to Yao.

Maybe multiple moves, with an eye to the future as well as this year. And I'm not talking about that slab of beef Dampier, BOLD BRUSH STROKES...

The Wizard is well armed/positioned to take care of business. ........

Half of you fools remind me of the time when people used to say

He is 7'6 we ain't happy unless he averages 35 pts, 15 rebounds 3 blocks..........

Such high expectations after having a surgery, where he decided to reconstructed his feet and he is basically working his butt off, so he can win for the Rockets.

And you fools repay him buy saying.......

OMFG only 24 minutes................Some of you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself are you a human being.........

Sure we are frustrated with his injuries, but the man played his heart out for every single game he played in a Rocket Uniform, you could at least give him 1 full season with his reconstructed feet, before crying..........

    Sickening......

Big Z Yao is not, my ill tempered friend.

Foot reconstruction surgery may sound like childs play to you, however it has never been performed on a 7'6" NBA basketball player with such physical demands.

I believe it wise to be cautious early on and not to make callous decisions that could bring the wall tumbling down. In turn cutting short our chances in the playoffs when we will need him more than ever.

pretty sure based on the occurences the last year and a half that his problem isn't stress fractures anymore. it is the reconstruction of the foot.

i am amazed how little people know even though the information has been put right in front of them on a nearly day to day basis. have you been living under a rock?

Yao is not the answer, Tmac was not the answer.

Yao brings in money! great, we will be a third tier West team for the next decade as well.

The future of the Houston Rockets Organization is better without Yao Ming

not everybody has high expectations of yao (35 or whatever you pointed). people just want improvement from yao througout the season (minutes, increase in stamina...). i don't think any sane fan expects him to regain his all-star status in his first year. the problem people have is the time limit being put out before a game is even played to see how he's doing. that doesn't look good. yao is probably the most loved rocket RIGHT NOW among the majority of rocket fans so nobody is wishing him to do bad. we are all thinking of how his time limit can affect the rotation and chemistry and things like that.

and then you respond with this w/ calling posters "you fools?". yea right. this thread isn't whining about yao as a person or as a player (b/c nobody knows how he'll be as a player). jeez. you want some real whining on players... well this thread ain't one.

    Are you really serious??????????????????????????????????????

Did BIG Z who is was the only example of this surgery play more than 32 minutes when he came back to action? If the answer is no, why would anybody think Yao would come back and average 32 minutes a game.

    That's called foolish thinking.

You go reconstruct your foot and tell me you can play street basketball 82 times a year at 32 minutes a game.

If you are defending the fools, what does that make you? Are you another person who truly thought Yao was going to average 20-10, 35 minutes playing all 82 games after reconstructing his foot.

Like Carl Herrera says, this is the team of Humans and apparently the Rockets Team is considering the Humanity of the situation.

Yao not playing the second night of back-to-backs is gonna make it virtually impossible for the Rockets to build any team chemistry. Rick Adelman said this himself two years ago when the team had the same situation with McGrady. You can't just have guys coming in and out of the lineup. That to me is much more significant than him only being able to play 24 minutes a game.

When you average in the 0 minutes he will play in games on back to backs, his actual average minutes per game for the season will be less than 20.

Which is why you need to go back and read the article in the Chronicle. They are not out to make his minutes per game at 24. They are simply saying that he will not play any more than that. And, if he only manages to get 22 in one game, they are not going to let him play 26 in the next game to make up for it.

Also, in games you don't play, it doesn't count against your average. So in the games that Yao doesn't play, those 0 minutes, 0 points or zero anything don't count against his average. He has to log at least 1 minute in a game to make it count.

Ever hear of sarcasm? To make it clear what you wrote is asinine. I was mocking your crap QQ post.

    IS THE SKY FALLING OMG.

Again let's try to apply some critical logic instead of posting wild extrapolations and imaginary scenarios.

How many back to backs do you think the Rockets play a year? It's about 16 games. You're right it's going to be IMPOSSIBLE for any team to build chemistry given that situation. I'd rather just trade away 20/10 a night and any chance to advance in the playoffs. Because Houston SOOOO MANY options for first All-NBAers breaking down the door to get to Houston.

    SUMMARIZING THIS THREAD.

    Step 1: trade Yao
    Step 2: ???
    Step 3: QQ
Step 4: throat punch your dog in frustration
    Step 5: ??
    Step 6: Profit

With Morey limiting Yao's minutes that implies that a team with a 24 minute Yao is able to make noise in the playoffs. Are we a contender? Too early to tell. I feel we are going to be 2-6 seed.
