Most people don't want him because he is a former mav. But imo, I really feel that he can contribute to this team with his size and shotblocking, THAT WE DESPERATELY NEED.

We have no legit centers except for Yao. Brad Miller, no. Chuck Hayes, no. Jordan Hill, no. It would be nice to have a traditional center for once who is tall and can block shots on regular basis other than Yao.

Miller is of course the better offensive player but defense, rebounding and shot blocking, Dampier's much better at all of that than Brad Miller. You can agrue who's the better player. Why not for 2mil a yr? That's dirt cheap for a player like him who could probably get close to the MLE. If we get him for that much that's a great bargain.

As long as he doesn't claim to be the best or second best center on the team. I don't think he'll stop being called Erica, however, even if he joins the Rox.

You need to include the option:

Yes, just so Miami does not get him

Maybe yes, for his trade value at 2 million.

Otherwise, no, because we don't want to waste a roster spot on a guy who is old and won't make the rotation.

Yes his size will give us great depth when play teams like the lakers in the playoffs. With Yao only getting 24 mpg the others are at risk to getting into foul trouble, and then the "second best center in the league" will come in handy.

Yes. In fact, I'd rather having him than Brad Miller.

Where is the answer: Yes, because it'll be cool to have the second best center in the league to backup the best center in the league?

Sure, it's pretty amazing to think last year we had no legits centers...if Dampier signs we would have 3 legit NBA centers, a potential one in Hill and of course old reliable Chuck Hayes.

I like his game, but if we get him, I'm not sure if we're gonna have enough playing time for everybody when pretty much everyone on the team deserves to play.

Odd man out here to be stuck on the bench would be Jordan Hill or Pat Patterson when they play Hill at the 4.

    I don't like Dampier ...never have.....bad attitude....underachieving player.

That said, I understand why many see the value here.

Knowing Yao's situation and Miller's age, why in the hell not for the price? I think we can go deep into the playoffs, the more big players we have who can walk and chew gum at the same time are at a premium. Besides, we might as well count on Yao, Miller, or Hill missing some time. I'd rather be prepared and not have a list that includes NBA Greats such as Robert Swift or Jake Tsakalidas as replacements again.

I'd rather the Rockets take a chance on a rookie like Magnum Rolle.
