This was actually considered a good poll by most Republicans the numbers before yesterday had her lower. 11 points is doable and the hope is that once the anger from the Castle supporters subsides they will come out and support her. Also she raised a million dollars yesterday so that should help.

Yes it is . Someone who uses inflammatory remarks is a troll. Personal attacks are inflammatory.

You seem to have stretched the definition of troll to mean anyone who annoys you. If you aren't satisfied with my response to your arguments then just ignore my responses. I do this all the time.

I used the definition you provided from wikipedia. There was more to it than just inflammatory remarks.

Why would I ignore responses I'm not satisfied with? That's not conducive to good discussion.

    Exactly. That's the problem.

People who get carried away in a legitimate argument and throw out insults are not trolls.

It's nice that you're finally admitting that you just ignore posts that you don't find satisfying. Unfortunately, that includes just about every post that disproves the incorrect things you are constantly posting. In my book, that makes you a troll.

The purpose of a forum discussion is not to win the argument. It is to A) strengthen your ability to argue your position B) Hear other positions so you can be confident yours is correct. So if you are unsatisfied with my response then you can come to the conclusion that your position is correct and you know how to present it. The reason one would respond in that scenario is attempt to prove to others he is correct.

Are you under the impression that I am obligated to respond to posts I have no desire to respond to?

I think you missed the point completely. If Castle would have won the nomination, republicans would have won the seat (and possibly the senate). Thanks to the tea party, that is no longer the case!

First, I'd point out that I don't like to engage in arguments or debates at all, although others here might. So "winning" an argument is the furthest thing from my mind. To me, it is the discussion that matters.

In that sense I feel it is important for one to respond to people who take the time to post honestly and thoughtfully with respect to a claim you've made. It's important because it is the respectful thing to do. Nobody likes to be ignored, and when they take the time to articulate a thought and you ignore it completely, that is disrespectful. They don't know if you ignored it because you didn't like what they said, or because you feel you have already refuted their argument, or because you have your fingers in your ears and don't want to acknowledge anything that goes against your predetermined views.

I also think your A) and B) above make an assumption that is common but dangerous for good discussion. That assumption is that you are right in the first place. If you assume you are right and are only posting to strengthen your position or gain more confidence in it, then you're not really having a discussion at all. You really are just trying to "win" the argument. If, instead, you are having a discussion because you want to see other points of view and you want to honestly allow your opinions to be strengthened or weakened by what you read with an open mind, then responding to posts you aren't satisfied with actually makes sense. Beyond being respectful, it often helps you clarify things that were misunderstood in the first place. With that clarification maybe you'll see that you agree, or at least provide a better understanding for everybody about where you don't.

Well that was well known about 4 months ago. The tea party knew this when they started to support O'Connell about a month ago. Their attitude was what good would having Castle be in he doesn't support repealing the health care bill and supported the stimulus plans and other such liberal policies.

I am under the impression that you shouldn't run away with your fingers in your ears screaming "I can't hear you" every time someone points out how wrong one of your posts is. Unless you're ok with being labeled a troll.

How do you keep a tea party troll in suspense?

Often on this forum when Republicans mention how they want less spending and more fiscal responsibility out of their government. This is usually countered by Democrats by saying something along the lines of "well look at the spending under the Bush administration". Their is a lot of truth to that argument and tea party members know it. So they are solving the problem by running against Republicans that have a record of poor fiscal decisions. Tea party members have decided that the Republican party will stand for fiscal sanity again, even if it means getting rid of some "sure things" like Castle. Because of this they will keep gaining power and steam as the deficit and spending keeps increasing.
