Looks like they are also making a play for Fesenko, seems like they are serious about the time limit on Yao.

And the monster in Miami could sprout yet another useful head.

No, I'm not much of a fan of Dampier or anything (kind of neutral on him, but would be a fan if her were a Rocket) -- but if Miami gets him, they add another upgrade.

Funny, though, how it's already referred to as "Miami's championship run." I didn't think it could be a "run" unless you had already won a game or two... :p

Hayes, Hill, and 2Pat? Where are the minutes going to come from?

Adelman likes to play a short rotation and frontcourts are usually three deep anyway. We know what Hayes brings. Hill I think he's shown he's capable of providing solid minutes off the bench.

    Scola, Hayes, 2Pat
    Miller, Yao, Hill

I'm not sure what to make of this news? Is there something they haven't revealed about Yao or is there a trade in the works?

No, the article is saying we aren't championship contenders WITH a mid-level exception.

looks like damp has to choose between making less to win more, or vice versa. he already had a giant contract, something tells me he will choose the heat.

as for the idea of damp as a rocket, i like it because he would add much needed shot blocking. plus, im not sold on brad miller. he's a nice character guy, he can pass... but he can't guard anyone, or rebound all that well anymore, or score from the post at all. to be honest i didnt really see the point of signing him when that playing time could go to developing hill or patterson.

still, i think damp can be very productive on defense and rebounding. 2 things that we really lacked without yao... and since yao will only be playing half the game, damp brings skills that we will once again really need on the floor.

if we can get dampier that would be huge. i know its a small addition but its the little thing that win games... I never thought of adding him but that would be an awesome deal esp. with yao rumored to play 24 or less minutes a game this season... i am loving the activity the rockets are doing this offseason!

...if he isn't injured. If they're signing someone to take off minutes at least get someone who'll play.

Knowing Dampier is available at this point, similiar to the " Lee and Ariza" situation, will Morey try to get Dampier and dump Miller since Miller is a bit pricy?

Damp made a lot of money in past years, but he is not making for the upcoming year (unlike other guys who have been waived before with guaranteed money). So, I think he'll want to make more than the minimum.

It seems that Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans, etc. all still have their mid-level exception left and can probably use him. Can't imagine Damp turning down full mid-level money (or near it), especially if it's for multiple seasons, to chase a ring. Not at his age, not with the CBA expiring. It's probably his last chance to get more cash.

If he comes to the Rockets, he might even get a chinese shoe deal like Patterson and Scola.

Yao is capped at 24 minutes. If Miller gets injured, It is the Hill and Hayes show.

The Rockets are trying to go from the shortest team in the league to the tallest.

Yao won't play in the back to back games. There are around 20 of those.

It's Miller and Hill. Miller is not very durable himself. In back to back sets with and Miller with an injury, Hill needs a backup.

This would be our depth chart for the bigs if Erick Dampier is signed.

    Yao/Dampier/Hill
    Scola/Miller/Hayes/Patterson

My money is that their is a trade in the works with Patterson and Hill being shipped out.

Highly doubtful Patterson is going anywhere.
