I like your enthusiasm towards the end. I can't say I disagree with anything you said. I'm somewhat on the fence with the Ariza trade, but the more I think about it the more I realize it was for the best. We no longer have a logjam at the two/three positions. When I look at the roster now, I see a group of hard working guys who can grow with each other. I do think Hayes is a better option at the center position than Jordan Hill. Jordan needs to put on some weight, because the Rockets have too many PFs (which is a nice thing to have). I guess he can get some minutes when teams go small, but I still want to see Hayes out there. He does everything better, but if Hill can provide more offense then I want to see him get the minutes. I also see Brooks PPG dropping. He can score 20 a game, but we need him to pass more. Yao, Martin, and Scola all need to get plenty of shots which is why I want to see Brooks average 10 APG this season, with a 40% clip from three. That would really show me if he is worth a Luis Scola type contract. It's also nice when you have a guy like Battier who plays D, shoots the three, and doesn't complain about minutes/shots.
scola is probably my favorite basketball player of all time and is one of the best leaders but in the rockets, even though i do agree that he is the best leader, there are many leaders.. Its a republic not a dictator ship with the power evenly distributed amongst a mixture of good veterans, young explosive talent, and a great coaching staff.. thats why this team is so nice.
Great vid DD! I too would like to see what this team can do instead of trading for Melo. I really like the length of Hill & JJ coming off the bench, especially against the Lakers.
dd, your voice is like having a cup of coffe with a caffeine shot in morning, it will wake your a$$ up! great video keep em coming.
DD just ignore the riff & the raft and keep on going it is a long off season and some of us have not kept up on the threads. Difference of opinion keep this BBS healthy and informative.
Thanks DD, I think it's great! Its nice to see a video with comments rather than just reading posts. I understand your take on Carmelo, but I would love to have him. Reasons: 1. He's a scoring machine! The attention he'll get on the court will far exceed everyone else, which will make the offense that much more effective. 2. He can go toe to toe with anyone on the court, including LeBron, Kobe, Wade, etc... Especially during crunch time. We don't have that kind of player. 3. His defense is not that bad. He's better than Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks. 4. He can post up/go to the basket/and shoot the jumper. Not alot of players can do all three. This can be mixed in with Reason #1 but want to elaborate a bit. 5. His negatives does not out weigh Reasons 1-4. The question here is what would it take to get him? Draft picks? Expiring contracts? Other possible assets such as K. Martin, Brooks, CBud, J. Hill, J. Taylor. I think Morey is quite satisfied with this team, which would make him less desperate in making this deal (that Tmac deal looks better and better  ). Thanks again for the video.
I love DD's Rockets Talk, keep them coming. You have comedic presence, whatever that is. Farleyesque. "If you need me, I will be in the bus down by the river!"
Thanks for the info. I will look forward then to several more of these during the season. I also hope the DD bashing, i.e. personal stuff, from some members of CF would be tempered from hereon. Looking forward to a very enjoyable and interesting new season.
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....hes-back-if-so-the-rockets-may-be-as-well.php I don't know if it's been posted elsewhere, but this article makes me even more optimistic about the rockets this year. It sucks that the outcome of our season relies heavily on two pretty injury-prone players(K-Mart and Yao), but when they're healthy, it looks like they will be a force to be reckoned with. I can't wait to see Kevin and Yao play together, its gonna be really fun to watch.
True on Yao's case as his frame is just so large that it might be a permanent flaw. However, Martin has just been unlucky, there is nothing structurally wrong or re-occurring, so he should be just as good to go as anyone else. DD
I see what you mean with Kevin. When i said "pretty injury-prone" I was mostly refering to him, with the "unlucky" factor in mind, because we all know Yao is flat-out prone to injury, even though it breaks our hearts. What scares me the most is the fact that K-Mart is 6'7 and only weighs 185 lbs. I can hardly see how that is possible. I really think his frail frame has alot to do with his injuries, and I know some may say adding muscle would hurt his shot, which is reportedly at its best right now, but still...6'7 185?! I think adding some muscle would really help him out when it comes to sustaining the blows he will inevitably take when driving in close. Don't get me wrong, I love Kevin Martin, I think he is an awesome fit. That frame really makes me nervous though.
