if you want him available in the playoffs guys, this is the right direction.

and besides, we were successfull with our quick line up last year.

Maybe they are trying to lower his market value too, by severly limiting his minutes, and then signing him for a big discount?

Disagree. I don't believe that would be the best way to maximize his in game production. You can't just come off the bench for 6 minutes with huge breaks in between and still be effective every time. It takes some time to get your rhythm going. Would rather see him play in 8 minute blocks 3 times a game

    First quarter - 6 minutes
Second quarter - last 5 minutes
Third quarter - first 6 minutes
    4th quarter - last 7-8 minutes

I'm actually okay with that. I think they should limit his minutes. I'd like to see him average 25 mpg for the entire regular season, then maybe increase to 30-35 mpg in the playoffs.

    Yao-25
    Scola-30
    Miller-30
    Battier-25
    Budinger-25
    Martin-30
    Lowry-30
    Brooks-30
    Lee-15

Something along those lines with Patterson/Hill picking up big man minutes as well. There's enough players on this team that we can be very effective and have a good unit on the floor at all times.

At least people will not expect a 20/10 season from Yao this year. He will be an AllStar for sure, but that is expected.

Nothing sinister about this. The Rockets need Yao for the playoffs, and limiting his minutes is essential for that to happen.

seriously? so the big plan to be a contender, as i keep hearing this team will be, is to limit our best player's time on the floor so we can save money on his contract next year???

if that's it, color me disappointed.

i didn't have any high hopes he'd be logging lots of minutes, anyway. but i hope that the rockets are doing nothing more here than limiting his minutes because the doctors say so...not for some motive about contracts after this season.

No way you can win with Yao playing this limited minutes. When the game is on the line...you got to have Yao in there. I think they should play according to game situation. I remember 2 years ago, they play Yao way way too much mins even pass the 1st quarter even though they have a slight lead in the quarter.

He can play the first 5 minutes of the game.

Last 5 minutes of the 2Q and 3Q and the last 9 mins. of the game (unless it's a blow out etc)

    no problem.
