I don't know. From what I've been reading on this board there are some growing concerns over Mobley's resigning. There is a good chance Mobley will sign with us, but if he doesn't we will look life fools for passing over Courtney Alexander, IMHO.

Courtney Alexander is a sensational one on one talent but as I have stated before, I have some major questions about him. The character question which Clutch brought up is a very big question mark. Also, I really question if Courtney Alexander is good for team chemistry. He is an exceptional one on one talent, scores a ton in a hurry but is that good for team chemistry? The guy tends to be a jacker at times and takes a fair amount of ill-advised shots which is why I would not want him on my team. Its better to have less individual talent and more chemistry than more individual talent and no chemistry.

guys, loyalty is a good thing, but the time it will take mobley to get to his best, courtney will be there the whole time and will also get better....we should've drafted courtney to take cuttino's place and used the contract money to sign Rashard.....BUT, we couldn't displease Francis could we?

but c'mmon, courtney is better than cuttino....

ok, Sane your statement shows you do not understand how the salary cap works.

    1. The Rockets are around $20 million OVER the cap.
    2. Mobley is a restricted free agent. We can only match up to 4.1 million, due to an early bird exception, since he has been a Rocket for 2 years.

I'll take Shandon starting on my team. Shandon makes his teammates better. Alexander is the second coming of Iverson, except not as good. Keeping your team image, and your players happy is important.

Alexander is far from a sure thing to score 20 ppg. Mobley's only been playing for a short 2 years. Are you saying Alexander's already peaked? If that's the case, I'll take Mobley the whole time. You seem to contradict yourself, by saying Courtney will be his best the whole time and get better? So, he's going to be better than his best?

The last thing we need is a another SG jacking up shots. If I were to start a franchise, Alexander would be the choice to try and build a team around. But he does not work as a second fiddle. And that's what he'd be playing next to Francis.

So, we should've drafted another shooting guard, even though we have a very solid young one in Shandon, and the best backup guard in the league, we should get another one, instead of helping out our pathetic frontcourt?

This may be a minor point but Courtney gave the best interview with Craig Sager.Granted he is much older than most of the guys picked ahead of him, but he was an IMPRESSIVE young man: thoughtful and somewhat articulate. Honestly, I can't see what they are holding against this guy for something he did 4 years ago. Many of the guys drafted ahead of Courtney have that time span still IN FRONT OF them.

No way should we have got Courtney and let Mobely go. Remember what happened with Allen Iverson and Jerry Stackhouse. I know Steve isn't as selfish as either of those two players, but he wouldn't resign with the Rockets when he becomes a Free agent if that happened. Courtney would take many bad shots, which would piss Francis off. Also, Francis would already be pissed off that the Rockets let Mobley go. If they got Courtney, the Rockets would be in bad shape.

It is remarkable that Iverson comparisons and character questions are both mentioned about Alexander. Iverson had various questions about his character and his direction in life and he continues to cause headaches to this day.

Wasn't Iverson involved in some turmoil in a bowling alley or nightclub years ago?

Iverson did time for his involvement in what was described as a riot in a bowling alley. Then Virginia governor Doug Wilder released him from jail so that he could attend Georgetown.

LilStevie..Care to articlulate why Steve would be angered by Courtney "potentially" taking "All those bad shots", when he has the jack master Cuttino already beside for about 30 mins a game, putting up some of the worst junk in the NBA?

I don't know too much about Alexander other than he is a pure scorer and is ready to make an impact in the NBA. Will Alexander will be better than Mobley in the future? Will we regret passing up on Alexander because we wanted to keep Mobley happy? What do you guys think?

It's not just a matter of keeping Mobley happy, but also Francis. They have beautiful chemistry together on and off the court, and though Alexander is a talent that yeah, will probably end up scoring more, etc. than Cuttino down the road (though that isn't certain), he is a player with questionable character.

Dreamshake, Sure Cuttino shoots some bad shots, but not nearly as much as Courtney Alexander would. If you have ever watched Courtney play, you wouldn't believe the junk he throws up. You can expect some of that from young players such as Cuttino and Courtney, but Courtney is much more undisciplined than Cuttino. Plus, Steve would rather have his close friend jack up shots than some new kid.

So let me get this straight --

    1) We could have ditched Mobley for a player of a similiar vein or....

    2) Kept Mobley AND acquire Forward releif and a future first rounder through the draft.

Somehow I don't think Rudy's losing any sleep

We could have gotten a better trade had we gotten Courtney. However Rudy sucks in trades as he is too generous.

Cortney isn't a girl's name. My cousin who is a boy name is Courtney. Courtney is both a girl's and a boy's name.
