The only thing Major League 2 had on 1 was the Japanese player, Tanaka: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GWH0BHS0m04?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GWH0BHS0m04?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I've watched Major League numerous times. I will never tire of it. Major League 2? Maybe twice at the most. If it was never made...no biggie!
Despite having a pretty serviceable cast, the five minutes of Major League 2 I actually saw a couple of years ago were unbearable. Berenger just dropped off like a rock in the early-mid '90s, and Bernsen seems to have just had bad timing movie career-wise. Omar Epps has always been very photogenic and a pretty athletic guy, but he was just a hideous actor back then compared to Wesley. Before all that Blade nonsense, or Denzel actually making blockbusters, Snipes was the only black guy making any money.
Was gonna say I bet anything those Blade movies brought in his biggest bucks, in terms of the movie itself making money. And sure enough... http://www.the-numbers.com/people/WSNIP.php But as far as making money off solid acting gigs out of acting talent instead of the action gimmicks, yeah he was probably one of the few. Eddie Murphy made money but he got REALLY inconsistent.
Everybody always points to the Godfather when this question comes up. I actually like Major League 2 but it is not better than the original.
I dont know about last time but Empire Strikes Back, T2 and Dark Knight all come to mind. The originals were excellent movies but the sequels are considered classics and in Dark Knight's case...will be considered a classic.
Skills. But yeah, this thread was over immediately. Major League was definitely better. I did like Major League 2 though. I didn't even bother to see ML3.
I love Major League, and Major League 2 was garbage. If Wesley Snipes wasn't going to reprise his role as Willie Mays Hayes, why have another actor (Omar Epps) step in and play the same character? It's baseball... you could've had Hayes "sign" with a national league team, and write him out of the movie. Then you could bring in Coach Tomli... I mean Omar Epps to be the young guy that was called up from the minors to replace him (presumably Scott Bakula was his triple-A coach). You have to go the Tiffani Theissen/Shannen Doherty route, not the 2 Beckys from Rosanne route. Most egregious error though? PG-13... there is no such thing as PG-13 "locker room talk." Indefensible. TANGENT: As I Cuban-American, Dennis Haysbert's alleged Cuban accent in both movies is a personal affront to my heritage. I think Kevin Costner could've done better. He makes Al Pacino's "Scarface" accent seem believable by comparison.
