Anyone else listened to the album yet? It's really, really, really, really good, IMO. A bit of a divergence from their normal, too!

Catalyst sounds good, haven't heard the rest of their album but will this evening. It certainly is different then their prior work, of which I was a big fan.
Too many artist break away from what made them popular in the first place. They decide to change their image or take it to the next level and change what made them "Them". Seems like Linkin Park is doing so gradually. I am a huge fan and hope this is not the case.
I plan on picking up the album tonight but man these guys have fallen off big time. I understand the idea of trying new things but you don't forget what got you there. I think they try too hard to be different.
It's not a total divergence from what got them where they are, hence my verbiage "a bit of a divergence". It's still mostly the same sound as before, just has a different feel to it... it's not quite as much of a change as, say, Incubus when they went from SCIENCE to Make Yourself (which was a good change, IMO).
I own Linkin Park's first three albums and after listening to "A Thousand Suns" am debating if i'll purchase it. There aren't any memorable songs and way too many interludes that really don't add anything to the album.
You misunderstood me (or I missed the joke). Imo, the first two + Reanimation were awesome and the last two, especially this one - not so much.
I just have to say. This is not a bad album. It is okay. However, this is no longer the Linkin Park "Hybrid Theory" sound or even like Minutes to Midnight. It sounds almost feel like something you would expect from a Radiohead-Moby-Coldplay collaboration, but not a finished product. In some of the songs, something just feels off from highlighting Bennington vocals in songs where it just won't sound as good as possible, lyrics that don't flow completely right, or instrumental sections that could have been filled out better. However, those are really minor issues in those songs. The biggest thing, is that the album just does not feel complete. Given the variety of musical styles that sort are hit at in this album, it would probably have worked better as a soundtrack or rock opera that should be listened to in order. However, it is missing songs to make it flow, and the songs are missing parts in themselves to give the album a full sense of completeness. Having said that, there are some good songs on the album such as "Waiting for the End" which is probably the most complete, cohesive song on the record, "Wisdom, Justice & Love" or "Robot Boy" which sort of just bleeds Moby or A3, "The Messenger" which I could see from Eels, or "Jordana Del Muerto" which would be good piece of a movie score.
