Not sure if white folks celebrate this holiday. Didn't see any specials on coronas, limes, and fajitas.
The real Mexican Independence, not that lame Cinco de Mayo bull*****... White folks drink to anything, they just need an excuse...so why not have this be a "holiday" in America...HEB must be having a sale on fajitas, tortillas, queso blanco and chorizo...
Well, I know he ain't askin' black people. 'less they're married to Mexicans... then they DO care about our festivities...
my birthday is so much cooler than mexican independence day. and i will be celebrating it healthily with some ben and jerry's and the season premiere of sunny.
^^ unhealthy??? FYI - Mexico's Independence Day is the 16th of September, but the parties and festivities are actually on the eve of the 16th, the midnight before, when a GRITO is celebrated to start the Independence Movement. Miller Outdoor Theatre always has a celebration event that is a few hours before you can go home and watch the live celebration at 12:01 a.m. on TV from a Mexico feed. this is a nicely written page on the occasion: http://www.inside-mexico.com/featureindep.htm As compared to the U.S. of A.'s independence, we celebrate it with a "GRITO", not a signing of a document, and we were mestizos rising against oppressing Caucasian government.
The Mexican American Cultural Center is having some festivities in Austin... It's a pretty cool spot. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/macc/events.htm Fiesta de Independencia 2010! This year we celebrate the Bicentennial of Mexico's Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. 6:30 pm The program kicks off with a performance by the Austin Symphony Quartet interpreting music by Mexican composers. 7:15 pm Performances by Mariachi Tamazula and Ballet Folklorico 8:15 pm Sponsor recognition, patriotic speech by University of Texas Professor, and VIP introduction: Mayor Pro Tem Mike Martinez, former Mayor Gus Garcia and Gloria Mata Pennington, Fiesta de Independencia Committee, Chair. 9:00 pm The Consulado General de México, Rosalba Ojeda, reenacting the call for independence from the balcony. Finale - Performance by Mariachi Nueva Generación. Shuttle buses will be available to transport the public from Fiesta Gardens parking lot to the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center . Fiesta Gardens is off Chicon St. on Nash Hernadez Senior Road.
^ That is TRUE. Remember, tonight at midnight is the GRITO DE DOLORES (your maid, the City of Dolores in Guanajuato), TOMORROW is Mexico's Independence Day... Tonight's headliner http://www.milleroutdoortheatre.com: Ramón Ayala. Looks like I'm going.
Probably Argentina... sometime in th--- wait a minute. You don't know? Seriously? Doods...y'all don't know? Against tyranny, oppression, crimes, and social indignity... and don't make me post mushy stuff again...
This is the wrong thread to discuss that, sir. Please respect! How about we discuss what you or I will be drinking tonight to celebrate?
