Few things are worse than watching agents of fear and hatred destroy what they cannot understand. September 11th will always be fresh in our minds, a moment in time frozen and preserved, with nerves bared raw for all to see. The terror that day may have incited panic, and anger, but what I will always remember is the spirit. It was one moment we all were forced to share. New York City firefighters knowingly rushing to their deaths in hopes to maybe save a few citizens. The people suffocated by flames, forced to jump down into the abyss below, the decision of those on Flight 93, who decided to give their lives to change the course of history. All of those things adding up to a commonality for a few moments in time, a unity, a recognition that although we are diverse, and immersed in a bitter culture clash between reason and faith, and constantly struggling to become more and more individualistic... for one moment... a terrible, terrible moment, there was an intuitive sense within all of us that this was a time to put aside those selfish pursuits and reaffirm our allegiance to one fundamental idea... not the United States of George W Bush or the United States of Barack Obama, or any other incarnation, but the United States of America... we the people. One Nation... indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. Freedom of religion. Freedom of speech. Self-expression, anti-censorship. These lines are constantly blurred, but their core remains the same. Since then, I have become bitter and dejected and angry at America many times over. But I know that deep down whatever my quarrels are, they are never too much to make me forget what America is supposed to stand for, which is a freedom we are all too damned lucky to have. And in that sense, I will always be Proud to be an American.
Others have already pointed it out, but I'm continually amazed at the ignorance many people have of the events surrounding 9/11.
What the f*** is Patriot Day? Trying to brand 9/11 like this has got to be one the more disgusting examples of political douchery I've seen in a long time
everyday is patriot day for me. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ZZf619DIpo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_detailpage&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ZZf619DIpo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_detailpage&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
the top part of my post was out of frustration. You are all very correct in pointing out that its not the iraqi people, it was the taliban and all of that, i stand corrected. i was just fuming when i read what he had to say about that. I didint agree with it, anyway, the bottom part of my post is very true, we lost many bright people in that act of terror because of the ignorance of others. Blast me if you will, but my jaw dropped when i read his comment, sorry again for the confusion.

The debate in this thread is ridiculous. It's a day of remembrance, and a symbol of the resilience of this country. So, in that vein: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ghz4_kikLkE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ghz4_kikLkE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cf7CXlZesLs?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cf7CXlZesLs?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
People need to put aside their differences for this thread. Bicker elsewhere but respect the people and families we lost on 9/11 +
It is more apparent that these morons shouldn't be using a horrible day in our nation's history to piss on these people's grave so that they can make a dollar.
Fair enough. I'm certainly not going to act like I carried myself in a mature manner. Apologies to the mods and administraters
Far from it. I'm simply responsding to what has been said to me. I could give a **** what anybody thinks of me.
"This is a time of difficulty for our country. And it is often in such moments that some try to stoke bitterness -- to divide us based on our differences, to blind us to what we have in common. It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." -President Obama (two different quotes put together to illustrate a point) So what do we have in common Obama, absolute followers. . .? You take a golden shower on gun rights, religion, (but don't offend Islam - unwritten liberal religious bash exception), label "they" as bitter, or demonstrating antipathy to dissimilarity, as well as ascertaining definite feelings of "they" towards immigration and trade. . . I think it's not so much "they", but Barack Hussein Obama (O yes I did) that stokes the bitterness. What do we have in common. . ? ? (where is your sympathy for those that are dissimilar to you?, the "they" people?) I think this forum is evidence that the only thing we have in common is demonstrated antipathy towards each other. That's all we have left. There is no sympathy. none. . . I sometimes feel that America's real enemy is ourselves. We have seemingly two sides who would love to see the other die a cruel horrible death. . . I think your left wing terrorist was somewhat right. The Earth doesn't need our crap. . .Too much throwing stones and living in glass houses...sigh...Time to buy more bullets and cling to more guns. After all, if "they" can't change, why should I? . . .
