WOW...was that a choke job by VT? Not running the ball on 3rd down and then playing NO Defense on the last drive!
I told y'all Bryan Stinespring was the worst. In the College thread a few weeks ago I said I hope he didn't mess up our chances at a victory. And guess what HE did that ****. ****!
Umm, that's a little melodramatic. First off, BSU scored with 1 minute to go, so the 40 extra seconds may or may not have cost them. Had VT come back with the FG, that call may have inadvertantly saved VT. Second, there's still a huge question mark whether BSU can make the national title game. Even if two BCS conference teams lose, there's a pretty good chance teams keep jumping BSU as they get a chance to impress - we've seen that in previous years where the Boises and Utahs high a ceiling and can't move up any further. Even if they were to move to #2, the computers likely still make it very difficult for BSU to make the title game if there is a consensus #3.
When will Frank Beamer get off his azz and fire Bryan Stinespring? Bryan Stinespring is the Greg Knapp of College Football and yet Beamer keeps this guy around It's frustrating to say the least.
smh i hope boise doesn't get into the national championship game because that would be a waste. *crosses fingers that ohio state and bama go undefeated*
Everything changes if Boise State has 1:10 left instead of two minutes - in terms of their playcalling as well as Virginia Tech's. I don't see Boise working the underneath routes as calmly as they did if they don't feel secure in the time. We'll see. I hope you're right, but I see the anti-BCS crowd looking as this as their first real opportunity to push a non-BCS team in the title game, and I doubt they let it go. Computers are only 1/3 of the equation. The other sad thing - after this game, I really do think Virginia Tech is an excellent team. They just beat themselves tonight with absurd decision-making and an uncharacteristic special-teams mistake. I think they'll have a very strong year, and give pollsters ample opportunity to pimp this win.
I hope you're not seriously suggesting an undefeated Boise State should go ahead of an undefeated Bama or Texas (even though I'm sure some will be silly enough to do just that).
They didn't lose one last year and it didn't help him. Here's to hoping they get "screwed" again. I don't really see a rematch though.. don't see Texas making it back. /ducks
Computers are only 1/3rd, but it remains to be seen where BSU is ranked in them. In their undefeated season last year, they were #6 in the computers. If they are 4 or worse this year in the computers, they are going to have major problems. If they are #2 in the polls, they also probably won't get all the #2 votes, so that hurts them a lot too - there will be a few pro-BCS conference voters leaving them at 4 or 5 or 6. My guess right now is that unless there are no other undefeateds, they don't make it. They probably don't get left out for two 1-loss teams, but I think if there's a consensus best 1-loss team (especially from the SEC), that team will jump them due to computer strength.
Possibly, though I wouldn't be shocked if certain voters looking to make a point give Boise a substantial amount of #1 votes to try and "offset" the lower than #2 votes. That said, of course your theory is possible and I hope it works out that way. More than anything else, I'm just sick thinking of the hours I'm going to waste over the next three months arguing the same point over and over again - and it all (most likely) could have been avoided if Frank Beamer had the common sense of a 5-year-old.
