Brian Grant has agreed to a contract with Portland, meaning that either Wallace or Pippen will be traded so Grant can start at the 4. Can you name one team that wants to have a 34 year old absort their entire salary cap? Me neither. So Wallace should be on the block. A trade exception would help the Blazers land the center they're looking for, Mutombo maybe, so they would possibly take a package with Walt Williams, Carlos Rogers, Bryce Drew, Matt Bullard, Jason Collier, or Kenny Thomas, with one or two draft picks also involved.

With the star power already in LA and apparently headed to Orlando, it will take another marquee player to compete. And one of the brightest young stars in the league may just be available.

I wish, I love Rasheed Wallace. I think if he was in a situation where he could be the man, he could be as good as any player outside of Shaq. And you know he would fit us perfect. Good outside game, great inside game, great athletism, and young and loaded with talent. I like him almost as much as Webber. Maybe if we got lucky we could get in on a 3-way with Atlanta and Portland- Atlanta could use some younger depth. I know the chances are about .0001 %, but hey, it's fun to dream about getting players for the Rockets. Especially when it's Rasheed Wallace. I agree, he would be the answer.

I didn't say Brian Grant had signed a contract, I said he had agreed to one, just like Grant Hill has agreed to a deal with Orlando. Maybe it isn't true, but from what I hear it is.

Maybe a three-way deal with Atlanta could be worked out, as they are rebuilding and a trade exception and future draft picks would be very useful.

I agree with the CAT. I have a question though, I know alot of you heard it probably but Is it true that the blazers offered Rasheed for Pippen straight up and Houston didnt go for it?

    AntiSonic,

    Very, very funny.

No way Portland gets rid of Wallace for an injury-prone Grant. They will do like they did with O'Neil - sign him to a contract, claiming that he will get more playing time, and then do the same thing they did this year. He will get mad. Pippen will b****.

Stoudamire will be traded before anyone else, besides maybe O'Neil.

    If Sheed is the Answer

What is the question???? (jepordy style)

    1. Who is the Only UNTouchable SnailBlazer?

    2. After consuming vast quantities of illicit drugs which starting power forward will be traded to the rockets for Bryce Drew and a second round pick??

    3. Who got the most technicals last season?

    4. Which player on Portland's roster has less chance of coming to play for the rockets than Mr Pippen????

    5. What is the Shortened version of Mr Rasheed Wallace's first name???

To my understanding, they did offer Rasheed for Pippen, but when is the question. I have heard it stated by different people under different scenarios.

Scenario 1: Some people say that the offer was made to the Rockets during the '99 season before the trade deadline. I'm sure this trade was not made because it was just one month into Pip's tenure with Houston, and we all thought he would step up.

Scenario 2: (and the most likely) Most say that Wallace was offered for Pippen early on last summer when Pippen first let his trade request be heard. But the Rockets put the deal on the backburner to see if they could get anything better. Well, they couldn't, and might have even taken that deal. But, before they could, Pippen went off on Barkley on ESPN. Then, all the other teams, including Portland, knew we had to deal him. We had no leverage because of Pip's damn mouth, and because of that Wallace was taken off the table. From my understanding that is what happened.

Ok thanx. CAN YOU IMAGINE FRANCIS AND WALLACE!?

Wallace in my mind is one of the top players in the nba. He has great defense and he can score from anywhere. He is so impressive.

Would Brian Grant go back without a starting clause? I doubt it, he did turn down tons of money to get out of his last deal. And apparently the Blazers are tired of Sheed's antics, even though most of his T's come from only his reputation. Is it worth it to have a guy that may get ejected at any time for any thing when you can have a hustler replacement and the potential for Mutombo or a similar-caliber player?

Portland has no intention of trading Wallace. He's their best player. Grant is unhappy because of playing time. So, what does Paul Allen do? He overpays Grant in order to satisfy him. What does the salary cap matter to Portland? Their current payroll is over double the amount of the cap. What's another few million a year? Do you think Paul Allen is worried about having to pay $40M in luxury taxes?

BTW There's no such thing as a starting clause.

From what I've learned on this board Shandon has a starting clause, can someone tell me if that's true? And if it weren't, we'd have a starting spot to offer Mobley without even having to consider a small lineup.

We had a starting position to offer Anderson, but like aelliot says, there's no such thing as a starting clause.

THANK YOU aelliott; took the words right out of my mouth. Sheed and Bonzi Wells are the future of this team ; they're untouchable. Pippen is untradable for obvious reasons. There's no way Portland will trade its go-to guy in Sheed.

If Rasheed was on the trading block, I would give up anybody they wanted except Francis. If we gabe up Walt Williams, Carlos Rogers, Bryce Drew, Matt Bullard, Jason Collier, or Kenny Thomas, with one or two draft picks also involved for Sheed, I will be one of the happiest fans. Sheed isn't only my favorite player from the UNC daze, he is in my opinion one of the best PF in the league and landing him would automatically make us a playoff team (and that opinion was VERY unbiased, by the way) [IMG]

if there was any way to obtain Wallace without giving up Francis, Cato (need center), or Anderson, we'd better do it. I'd give up Cuttino if needed. He'll make probably close to 12 million, and P-Town probably would want our exception. I'm not going to propose a trade. I'm not going to propose a trade...

Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong?
    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
