Yea Scola is averaging close to 30 points a game. It clearly looks like Greece,Spain, and USA are the top teams. If Spain had Calderon and Pau Gasol they would clearly be the favorites though. Sergio LLull the Houston Rocket property looks pretty good and should be ready for take off next year. Imagine if Argentina had Nocioni and Ginobilli wow. I hope we land Carmelo because right now Luis Scola is at his peak of his prime. Even a 85 percent Yao would make a Rocket frontcourt look real nasty if we add Carmelo.

    Argies lose to Serbia.

This means USA face Angola, then the winner of Russia/Spain in the quarters, and possibly Argentina in the semis.

What a absolutely mess of a system. Unless China beat Turkey, I think the scenarios become:

    a. If Puerto Rico beats Ivory Coast, Puerto Rico moves on.
    b. If Puerto Rico loses to Ivory Coast but does so by 6 or less points, Puerto Rico moves on.
    c. If Puerto Rico loses to Ivory Coast and does so by between 7 and 11 ponts, China advances.
    d. If Puerto Rico loses to Ivory Coast and does so by 12 or more points, Ivory Coast advances.

Hahaha, yeah. Danny always came off as a pretty smart guy, but that was extremely dumb of him.

Llull injured his foot in June and returned a week before the start of the tournament. He lost athleticism, rythm and confidence, but day to day he looks closer to his old self. Has not played well until now, but I'm convinced he will have at least one good game before the end of the tournament.

I have to give props to Croatia for hanging with Serbia this long. These guys are truly leaving it all out on the floor. They have a couple of smalls guards (one who used to play in the NBA) directly things.

The Serbia team will kick themselves for a long time if they lose this game to such a clearly inferior team. I think Croatia will run out of gas.

great game. but there's really no need to foul the last play. time would run out before he could make a layup

Agreed, Krstic should've been banned from FIBA competition for at least a year for that crap. If it was the NBA he would've gotten the Ron Artest treatment.

Plus very bad officiating. The more FIBA ball I watch, the more I appreciate NBA officiating.

The Spain vs. Greece announcer is over-the-top.

Greece came out smoking and out-hustling the Spain but they will have a tough time winning. Maybe that missed flagrant foul jarred their focus.

Diamantidis is a beast on defense...just a beast...I mean i guess that is a given knowing his reputation but every time i see him he usually shines on defense. Too bad he doesn't play in the NBA though.

I am impressed by Spain's defense.
