If Martin gets injured this season, should we trade him?

Injury prone player is an injury prone player.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, guess what it is?

Facts are Martin has missed a boatload of games due to injury.

In his 6 seasons in the league, Martin has missed a total of 137 games due to various injuries.

Compare that with Yao, in the last 6 seasons in the league he has missed a total of 93 games due to injury.

Also compare that with T-Mac, in his last 6 seasons, he has missed a total of 165 games.

While he is not as injury prone as T-Mac, he is more injury prone than Yao.

    Scary thought.

How can yao only miss 93 in the last 6 when he missed 82 last year. Every cpu has a calculator option on it, please use.

will he get hurt this year.... probably. Will Lowry get hurt at some point this year..... probably. Look people, its his style of play that gets him banged up every once in awhile but that is not anything to worry about when it comes to NBA injuries. The thing that scares teams away from players is chronic knee, joint, foot, back problems.

Morey signed him and Lowry knowing that they are the type of players that will role an ankle or sprain their wrist every once in awhile because they arent afraid to bang in the post to get to the free throw line and was able to live with them missing a game or two during the season if thats a risk he had to take. So get over it and enjoy the slugfest of a season the Rockets are going to have this year.

But no, Martin will NOT get traded this year unless its to upgrade the team and there are about 5 players in the league that are good enough to constitute that type of proposition. And no, its not Carmelo Anthony. sorry guys.

Crap, I forgot about the last season!

Correction, in the past 6 seasons, Yao has missed a total of 175 games.

You missed the whole point about the freak accident. "Injury-prone" insinuates that a player is easily injured. A freak wrist accident can happen to anyone no matter how well they build their core strength or conditioning. Experiencing that type of injury doesn't mean a player is injury prone. You can get the healthiest of player's such as Lebron, and if he puts stress on his wrist the way tha Martin had, he too would have been injured.

Admiteddly he has had other injuries too. however they were minor in comparision, and he has continued to produce after his previous injuries. The same cannot be said about T-Mac who has lost his step.

One other thing, if the Rockets are to go into the position of Win Now and keep a hold of Yao, Martin is the perfect piece. If yo uare willing to trade away Martin, then why don't you trade Yao away too? Because Rockets' position is to Keep Yao and win now instead of rebuild, and Martin is a product of that win now sentiment.

So, for all who want Martin traded? Do you also want Yao traded? Because I feel that Martin and Yao are interconnected in the win-now plan.

He has missed more than 20 games in each of his last 3 seasons in the NBA...

He is built like a fairy...

He is not the main focus on offense anymore. That's something I also forgot to mention. He will be playing differently in Hou than he was in Sac. I'm sure he will miss games this year, but I don't think it will be enough to really constitute a trade toget worse. We only trde him for Superstars IMO, because Superstars are the only tier above a Kev Martin tier.

Yeah, I'm sure being built like my little sister has nothing to do with his bones snapping when he gets jostled around by grown men.

What a terrible "idea" for a thread. Talk about bad mojo! This thread sucks, with all due respect.

Absolutely agree. This thread has bad karma written all over it on so many levels. But why stop there? Why not say if Martin dies can we get a medical exception and use that to help get Carmelo.

Yeah and I even wrote a nice poem to kind of show the stupity of the thread but nobody like it and continued to debate the merits of trading an injured martin.

It's a good hing they will never make me moderator. This board would be filled with locks.

If Clutch the Bear gets injured again, I say we trade him for William Shatner or David Hasselhoff.

he seems to have a lot of "freak" injuries, which makes it seem like his entire body is fragile.

If we followed your thinking we would have to trade the whole team and then trade the whole replacement team ad infinitum! :p

I'd trade Yao before Martin. Why? Both are considered to be jsut as injury prone as the other, the difference is that Yao is a cornerstone and his injuries mean much more to this team. At least with Martin injured, we can bounce back. But with Yao injured, we are done!!!!

So let's have a trade Yao thread instead.

oh wait... it's been done a million times.

Anyway, Martin is yet to prove his fragility in a Rockets uniform, and until he does, I will support him as our starting SG. For god sake, we gave up Landry for him, I'm not going see Landry go to waste by trading Martin for a bag of peanuts simply because people think that he'll get injured. Yes he can get injured, but so what? The positives out-weight the negatives.

Come on, Dakota. He's healthy now, so he'll be healthy for the year? Martin is injury prone, no matter how much you want to deny that. Obviously he'll be healthy for some portions of the year, but it would be foolish not to have a contingency plan for when he goes down. Lee is not the answer, but it's a start.

The Rockets need to stop investing in injury prone players. After this year is done, if Yao does not show that he can last for a few more years, then I fully expect Morey to begin the rebuilding. Martin is a component for the Yao team, not for the future.

Seems like a strange question to be asking when we really just acquired him and the season hasn't even started yet.

I absolutely agree on the last point, which is why I am wondering does all the people that are supporting a Martin trade also want to get rid of Yao?

It doesn't matter either way. The organisation is clearing sticking to winning now with Yao, which mean Martin stays on the team.
