then after that it would be just melo and harris? or bd and melo? (clips would have to give up young talent too ie blake or gorden...
Why would he sign an extension with a gutted roster? that really is the elephant in the room for these trades.
Well its the first Monday with the Nuggets GM. I'm betting alot of phone calls will be made today and hopefully we will get some new news.
The Nets trading either Favors or Lopez doesn't gut their roster. Clippers have this other guy named Blake Griffin if they deal Kaman.
you cant just get rid of Kaman. young talent and picks. thats griffen and gorden and your not just doing one
Assuming it takes Lopez or Kaman for a Melo deal to get done, would Melo really want to sign an extension with them? I was under the impression that he wants to play with a legit big man, and thats the only reason why Houston was mentioned in the first place.

I know the focus is on Anthony right now but I thought I'd throw in an alternative trade Rox in: Billups and Iguodala Rox out to Den: Brooks, Jeffries, Harris, Johnson Rox out to Phi: Hill, Battier, NY pick(s) Rox '10-11 Billups/Lowry/Ish Martin/Lee Iguodala/Budinger Scola/Hayes/Patterson Yao/Miller Imho, this is a more complete and better balanced roster if our aim is to be championship contenders for the next 3 years.
We traded Ariza, because DM and Rick both want Bud to be our back-up SF behind Battier. So why would you trade for Dunleavy? That means Bud is, again, 3th SF/SG behind Dunleavy/Lee ... this proposal doesn't make any sense unless you package Brooks/Battier/Bud/Hill and trade for Melo, G. Wallace or Iggy.
Meh. I really just made the proposal to get rid of Jeffries. Budinger can play backup SF. Dunleavy is just an insurance in case of an injury to Shane or Bud. I just thought that maybe the team is better off with a 3rd SF rather than a 4th PF. You're right though, Chase should AND will be the backup 3.
Battier is well passed it but good enough to possibly play with the second five as a back up. Chase should be given the chance to start. Battier should be traded as part of a package for for Jello or Iggy. Budinger should only play back up to a new star!
I dont like this trade. I believe we're trading down with Brooks to Billups and Iggy is like Ariza just a more physical player, who shoots just as bad. I think this trade makes us a worse team. Its just my opinion though.
Pray tell, then, who the hell is going to defend out on the perimeter from that starting five? I can guaran-damn-tee you that, barring injury or trade, if Kevin Martin is the Rockets' starting shooting guard, then Shane Battier will be the Rockets' starting small forward.
If it took the same package to acquire Melo/JR as Smith/Crawford which way do you go? Me, if I am satisfied with the pkg of course, go with Atlanta's pair. Smith? The 3, the 4, the 5 depending on match-ups, clock etc. Play with Yao and Scola. Crawford as 6th man and b/u 1 (with presumed loss of my fav, AB).
So you are trading for a star SF and you STILL want to start CBud? Are you trying to start CBud at the 2 spot? If you are thinking about doing that, then what happened to Martin? Did we trade Martin as well? Assuming that we did trade Martin, you still do not want CBud starting at the two spot. His slow lateral movement already makes defending SF's hard enough, would you seriously want him to defend the smaller but much quicker two guards? Please tell me this was not a serious post. Ariza is at best a poor man's Iggy. Iggy can defend just as well if not better, create his own shot, and can actually score. They may shoot about the same, but you don't want to gouge out your eyes when you watch Iggy dribble. Didn't he say the scenario was that we were trading Batman for Melo or Iggy? I would assume that we would have one of those two starting. I rather have Iggy than Melo though.
I rather go with Crawford over JR Smith, but Crawford is severely overpriced. Melo is also much better than Josh Smith. I would probably go with Melo/JR and give JR one chance not to do anything stupid and if he does, buy him out or trade him.
Nah, you misread. He was talking about if the Rockets traded Jeffries for Mike Dunleavy, Jr. for SF depth.
Bima, Do we have the financial ability to put a package together to get Josh Smith without giving up any of our starting 5? 2 picks, jeffries, ppat, hill Brooks / Lowry / Smith Martin / Lee / Taylor Smith / Battier/ Budinger Scola / Smith/ Hayes Yao / Miller /
Yes, it is possible. But I honestly don't think Morey is interested in Smith. He's not a smart player and he can't shoot. While he's a fantastic shot-blocker, he's not a fit in Adelman's system and is not a big enough star that the system should be changed to fit his talents. No, thanks.
